Are we still using the same maps or changing to the new ones? I don't really care either way, just thought I'd ask.

Obviously Chargers needs to answer this question, but my guess is that it will be the old A,B,C PLUS the new Darkside and Lightside lists. In general the philosophy at this Regional is that people should play on a map that they have and that they are used to

We want an open, inviting community. That means that players should be able to show up with stuff from their collection. Many of the local players bought retail product exclusively. With only 1 WotC map on each of the lightside and darkside lists, that doesn't give them much choice. And it gets boring if everybody is on the same map. So we open up the options. That usually meant allowing A, B, and C. For competitive play, I get why there's a limited number of maps. But we want people to come out and play. That's gotten harder as people have left the game. We don't want to compound that.

And we potentially alienate highly competitive (and there's nothing wrong with being competitive) players. On the other side, that allows more players to show up and play. But we potentially water down the meaning of a regional. We'll choose more players every time. A, B, C, Darkside, Lightside it is.

Need some help. 1.) What is a good shooter map out of this list? 2.) What is a good melee map out of this list? 3.) Which map from this list is the most non-reliant on door control (other than rancor pit)?
Still trying to adjust my family schedules to allow me to go to this.

Still trying to adjust my family schedules to allow me to go to this. 1) Nightclub, great library, jabbas palace 2) Rhen Var, outlaw city C - nightclub or dark academy I'd say. Although you still need a minimal amount of door control on any map with a door (which they all have)

Will this be the one??? (but at least this is a very reasonable guess - unlike Mike's wildly inaccurate accusation of the likelihood of me running extremely high activation squad). (Edit - Clearly Mike was projecting - a psychological process in which unwanted feelings are displaced onto another person. In other words - accusing someone else of something you are guilty of . . . Range 12 grenades garbage. )

Lol, easy timbo, I was simply implying that you could maybe finally win with them!!!! On the other topic, I've gotten to the point where I don't fault the player for playing the rediculous squads, ie tarpals+togorian+spam, blast bugs and so on. More so, I fault the errata folks for not making changes that would be beneficial to the game and community as a whole... But I digress.

It's a good point you make about playing crap like that. It would be nice if the community would look at it and reject it for what it is, but that's not realistic. Still anything is better than that abhorrent excrement Mike played in Indiana. SHAME, Giles! SHAME!!!!!!

Shame is playing a tempo piece in most every squad, or playing the same squads over and over with no effort to try something new. Have you played The Father yet at a regional? I have and had 10 points. Really leave your comfort levels and play a <7 activation squad with no tempo or high activations, it'll be a new experience indeed.

(For those who don't know - Mike and I give each other good natured ribbings, so fret not) I've won a Regional with 9 different factions. Ranging from 7 acts with no tempo control to 20-some with tempo control and everything in between. Anyone can lose with anything. Do we need to rehash how seldom I've played act control in a regional in the past 5 years? It's a small fraction my friend.

More significantly, has anyone ever calculated the impact of my non-presence at competitive events on everyone else's SoS? You're welcome.

Still anything is better than that abhorrent excrement Mike played in Indiana. It would also be nice to have some things that are rediculous and unnecessary removed from the game. We're still a competitive community and there will always be a player or two that plays what they think will give them the best chance at winning regardless of it's... Tact. I'm glad for that, if it wasn't that way I would not be nearly as involved as I am. Since we are still a competitive community I hope we will see some movement from the balance committee in the near future. Not necessarily needed until after gencon.
