Hi all,
I know we just had VASSAL CON, but I'm eager to redeem myself and pull out some set 24 pieces. So what do we think about a tournament on VASSAL the first weekend of October? I could potentially do either Saturday or Sunday, so whatever is better for the most people.
This would be a standard 200 point competitive event, with v-set 24 being legal. Current restricted map list would likely be in effect.
Is this something that people would be interested in? If so, what date would work better? Just trying to gauge interest.

I'm keen, but I can only do a Saturday.

The first weekend of October is free for me, as is the second. I'm already booked on October 15. I'd definitely like to play if I can.

I am free the first weekend in October, or Sunday the 15th and onward. I will have my daughter with me during the weekend of the 8th as well as it is the baby's birthday.

Okay, sounds like overall the 1st will work better for people than the 8th (the 15th won't work for me). I will adjust the thread title and see if we can get a few more people.

Does anyone know when set 24 will be in the bloomilk squad creator thing / character search? Is that something I can help work on? I doubt i can do much, but if it is easy I can help a bit.

It turns out that I am busy on Sunday October 2 unless we start as late as 4:00 eastern or something like that, so I most likely won't be able to join you unless it's on Saturday October 1.
Laura, I think you'll just need to pick whatever day works best for the most people. If it ends up being a day that I can't play, then I'm totally fine with that...there will be many weekends available in the coming months, for minis.

I'm leaning toward Sunday right now, but that might change if more people show interest.

Certainly pick what works for the most people. While I am quite sure I won’t be able to do a Saturday, I cannot guarantee I’ll be able to do that Sunday as I don’t have my work schedule yet. But I’ll have a chance if it’s a Sunday.

I am fine starting at 4. Or if there is a bye we can start at 3 eastern and give him the bye.

We have a few people interested--anyone else?

Been thinking about this. Maybe a long-form tournament would be better? One game per week, you schedule with your opponent at a mutually agreeable time
We could still use October 1 as a start date, but just continue for however many weeks was justified by the attendance. Bonus would be that we'd get more play reports!
Sorry to be so flighty--just trying to figure out what would serve the community best.
Thoughts?

I like that idea. We would be using the same squad each time? or we would be picking different squads? I kind of like the different squad idea so we can explore set 24.

I'd think same squad. I like multiple squads, too, but it could be a lot of "book-keeping."
Maybe I'm overthinking, though.
Or maybe there's a way to switch squads, like, after a cut or something.
I want to see what a couple of other people say, but think I'm leaning in this direction.

I like the idea of a long form event. Then you could utilize a round robin approach. Depending on the number of participants you could switch squads after X matchups. i.e. 10 play which you then switch after your 3rd game. You submit squad 1 for rounds 1-3 at the start. Squad 2 for 4-6 end of 3rd round, Squad 3 for 7-9 end of 6th round and so on. Thoughts?
