It's here! After much deliberation, we are proud to present the event schedule for Vassal Con 2023! The event begins at 3 p.m. Central (4 p.m. Eastern) on Thursday, September 7, and ends at the conclusion of the Royal Rumble tournament on Sunday, September 10.
You will notice a few changes from last year. Due to work schedules and Darth Real Life, Jason and I are unable to run all of these events on our own. There are therefore a few events marked "organizer needed" in the schedule. If you are interested in being the point person for one of these events, please let us know and I will update the thread with the correct information.
Please also note that, unless SPECIFICALLY stated in the event description, the main set of V-set 25, Conquest and Rebellion, will not be legal. We want to make this event feel like Gen Con, and consistent application of the rules is one of the best ways to do that. There will be plenty of opportunities to play with CaR in the months to come.
And now, without further ado, here is the event schedule for Vassal Con 2023!

Beauty! I really like the variety of maps in the various events, too.
I'll be playing everything except for Sunday morning's Sealed event.

I have some questions for clarification:
1. For the Team Tournament...what is the LS/DS faction breakdown? In the past it has been this: Lightside: Old Republic, Republic, Rebel, New Republic, all-Fringe Darkside: Sith, Separatist, Imperial, Yuuzhan Vong, Mandalorian
2. For the 200pt Jedi Challenge event, it is listed as a "Conquest and Rebellion Tournament"...does that mean you can only use pieces from that set in your squad, or simply that you may use them alongside any other pieces from other sets?
Thank you in advance.

Great questions! I will update the post above with the factions.
For the 200 point Jedi Challenge, it is regular 200-point squads, but each squad must include at least one v-set 25 piece.

Thanks! As for helping...
Thursday: I could be the Organizer for the BH Sealed event, if you'd like. I have a meeting that ends 30 minutes before this one begins, so as long as I have the details beforehand I could handle it just fine.
Sunday: I could be the Organizer for the Royal Rumble too, if you'd like.
I'm planning to play in both of these, so I assume that I'd just need to send my squad info to someone before accepting players' submissions.
Please let me know if you'd like me to help with one or both of these. Thanks for being awesome!

Yep, for the Royal Rumble, you'd just need to submit your squads to someone who's not playing, accept squads from the competitors, and be there to oversee.
The sealed is a bit more involved, but we can help with some of the legwork.
I'll put you down for the Royal Rumble....thanks!

1. Thank you Laura and Jason for again going above and beyond for the community. You truly are Grand Masters. 2. I can be the point person for Fri Morn 100pt event UrbanShmi wrote:Friday, September 8 JEDI CHALLENGE:

3. "each squad must contain at least one piece with printed cost of exactly 23 points" Very curious. Any insight about why this very specific requirement is there?

What do I need to do for this? Accept squads by BM. Send your squad (if you are playing) to a third party. Create the forum post. Be on VASSAL to run the event. Run pairings. The forum post really just needs the final results so we can keep track of totals for the Jedi Challenge. Thank you!

Is 4 rounds of Swiss locked in? Per floor rules 17-32 players we’re supposed to play 5 rounds

We might want to update the floor rules

ATTENTION VASSAL CON ATTENDEES/OBSERVERS!
Due to Darth Real Life, UrbanJedi and I are likely to be unable to attend the Championships on Saturday, September 9. We do not know when we will be available that day. Hopefully, we'll be able to observe some of the later rounds. We definitely don't want to move the event--therefore, we will need someone to volunteer to run it in our stead. That involves:
Sending your squad to a third party in advance Accepting and keeping track of registrations/squads/map Creating the forum post announcing the squads Running the pairings through Tourney Tracker or similar procedure Designating or serving as Rules Official Keeping Bloomilk updated with rounds/results
Please let Jason or me know if you are willing and able to run the championships!

Oh no! I wish it wasn't so. We'll miss you guys.
Fight back! Just because Darth Real Life has assaulted you does not mean that you can't parry his attacks and riposte with some of your own.
Perhaps there's a way to make it work? Or maybe it's just wishful thinking....
