Well, Wizards has officially dumped the game. They took the Star Wars site down this afternoon. The Star Wars section itself is gone, but the forums are still there.

This was pretty abrupt; I don't consider May 27th the "end of May." I hope we have all the articles saved somewhere. I've got some of the scenarios and support articles saved, but not much.

You beat me to it, I was just about to post

I wish someone has the scenarious, it'd be a shame for them to all be *poof* and gone

Pity

Hadn't they said in their "announcement" that the boards would stay up?

Yeah, the Star Wars boards are still there, but you have to go to the community first, then the Star Wars section.

According to an announcement they posted, they saved the articles and will be dishing them out later. At least they gave us that consideration.

I think someone already archived the vast majority of the scenarios in PDF form. Dantooine Base?

Not sure, but they're out there somewhere other than Wizards.

Yeah I've been looking for that kinda stuff, Haven't found it just yet except for a very out of date FAQ on holocron.

I'd hope to see links if someone finds it, or I'll be back with one if I find it somewhere.

hah thanks. Didn't realize that was my first forums post here, guess I became more of a lurker than I realized.

And Nickname was correct, Dantooine Base happens to have a lot of stuff saved, in particular an up to date and organized Glossary pdf as well as individual pdf's for the checklists/rules inserts for each set.

past that some random resource files that are just interesting, so it's definitely a good start. Still trying to find an up to date Errata and the FAQ from the site.

Swmgamers does happen to have the errata typed out in a forums post though, that might be fine to print out as well.

yes its sad and ironic that they were quick for once...and considering that it was rearly if ever priased as a site before hand (Slow to get previews, slow for info, slow to update rules etc.. where all comaplined about at one time or another)

With how fast they remove things from the star wars section, I wonder how much we could have gotten if we reworded our requests (i.e. "Could you remove our lack of content?")

The only thing I am going to miss from that site was the thread of captions. So many bad jokes. So much fun.

You know they really could have let people know that the site was coming down.
Then again, likely no one is thinking about customer service to the star wars community.

They haven't for sometime. It's funny. Star Wars is a pretty constant cultural icon, yet this game company treated like some celeb's treat their kids.

"Smile and wave, honey. Oops, dropped him from a balcony. Oh, well. Where's my smokes."

Ya, They haven't treated their Star Wars Franchise very respectfully anyway. Look at the way they promoted their final set.I feel that MOTF got way less promotion then the other sets. They just wanted to move on long ago!

I will miss that site though just for the good memories. For me many others, that was our first lifeline to the game and community. Thats when I found out that there where many life myself who love this game.

Well, with the holiday weekend, Monday is technically the last day in May. So I wouldn't have been surprised to see the site disappear today. But that's irritating that they only gave like 2 hours notice. It's not like they couldn't have VERY easily pulled a database dump of all people who have marked that they play SWM, and had their system send out an automated email to that group to warn us of the impending doom. Sigh. ThumbDown

Don't know why I'm surprised though.

Sigh. Just deleted two non-functioning bookmarks, the database and the rules page.

It makes it feel so real. It was my first contact with the wider SWM world.

Wish I'd copied more of the scenarios now. Angry

The WotC forums were my first home before getting into bloomilk. I prefered having an avatar and stuff. But bloomilk took over my SWM life a couple of months ago and I have never really looked back. I doubt I will go back to the wizards forums again. Oh well.
