Well I decided I'd start customizing some pieces, as we won't be getting any more new pieces from Wizards of the Coast. These are very basic cut/paste jobs, and as I get further on I might make more complicated customizations. But, for now, here they are! New Republic V-Set Custom Checklist!DotF 31: Ben Skywalker - DONE!DotF 32: Cilghal - DONE!DotF 33: Jacen Solo, Jedi Knight DotF 34: Jaina Solo, Sword of the Jedi - DONE!DotF 35: Jedi Demolitionist DotF 36: New Republic Veteran Trooper RR 33: Gray Jedi RR 34: New Republic Elite Trooper RR 35: New Republic Tactician RR 36: R2-D2 and C-3PO RR 37: Rogue Squadron Pilot RR 38: Tycho Celchu RR 39: Winter

Grand Master Luke Skywalker I decided that, since he's the most powerful piece in the game, and that I just went to a Regionals tournament with him in my squad, I'd throw GMLS a bone and customize him the way he ought to be: with a lightsaber! No new stats or anything for this one, just an aesthetic change. I took the lightsaber off of a Youngling and glued it on to GMLS with Testor's Plastic Model Cement.

Sithling This one is more a result of me having a Youngling with no lightsaber, and a bunch of Reborns for which I have no use, lol. So I attached a red lightsaber to a Youngling and named in a Sithling! Then I got to thinking about stats, and this is what I came up with: SithlingCost: 5 Hit Points: 10 Defense: 15 Attack: 2 Damage: 20 Force PowersForce 1 Sith Rage: Force 1, +10 Damage on all attacks this turn. I plan on eventually painting him a little differently, but this is what I have so far. Any input welcome!

Very cool.
Something I wanted to see, but never got the chance, was a Luke with his Lightsaber and Shoto drawn. I think GMLS is perfect for it. His outstretched hand could be holding a Shoto in reverse grip...

It's been a while, but I've got more customs on the way. Stay tuned!
Some of what I've done: Jaina Solo, Sword of the Jedi - Kalashtar Bodyguard (DnD), painted the hair/headband brown, added purple lightsaber from Kyp. Luke Skywalker in Stormtrooper Armor - Cut the head off Cade Skywalker, Padawan, and put it on the body of a JA Stormtrooper.

Very nice. Every ones gotta start some where , One thing that I do is I sometimes paint a dab of silver right at the base of the saber so it looks like a handel is there.

I love how simple the Bodyguard woman is to turn into a Jaina. Such a cool looking fig.

Nice work. Not massive changes in the pieces, but a very good effect. Sometimes simple is better. Have you considered trying to get some yellow eyes on the Sithling? Love the name, by the way. The Jaina looks cool. Keep sharing.

Thanks guys!
I've got a couple more incoming, but my camera is acting up, so it'll probably be tomorrow.
Lord Kaan: Kyp Durron with a lightsaber change, then basically painted him all black, save the medallion on his cape and his belt. The goatee looks a bit funny, but the brush I was using wasn't that small, so it looks good considering, lol.
Luke in Stormtrooper Armor: I painted a black ring around his neck, and added a lightsaber hilt on his belt. Looks much better than it did.

Jaina is a Kalashtar Bodyguard from Dungeons and Dragons Miniatures. I painted her hair brown (she was blonde) and removed her sword, then gave her a purple lightsaber. Then I found out she was actually a popular choice for Jaina customs, so I was glad I had a good eye for the piece! lol

I may have to "borrow" the Kyp idea. I made 3 modded Kyps for test runs and the way the "evil" goatee turned out, I may have to turn one of them to evil.

Lol, this was a case of me making a custom because I felt bad just having Kyp sit there with no lightsaber and not being used, so I looked at the set list, browsed Wookieepedia and found that Lord Kaan looked like I could fit him on to Kyp. And THEN I found out someone did the exact same thing! Ah well, even if I'm not original, I'm still satisfied with it. His goatee looks funny, though.

By all means! It's a great piece. And I'd love to see more people fielding Jaina squads, just not against me. ;-)

So my plan now is to make customs for all NR pieces from DotF and R&R. I've got one of Jaina, Cilghal is next on my list. I plan on taking a Mon Cal Knight's head, a yellow lightsaber from Jedi Consular (is there a cheaper/more readily available source of a yellow lightsaber?), and not sure about the body yet. Then next will be Ben Skywalker, and I'll keep going from there. Any ideas?

Cheap Yellow Lightsaber? Um... Look no further than Exceptional Jedi in the NR. In fact, he has 2 you can use :)
Or the Sharpie on an acrylic rod cut to length works as well
