So it looks like Wizkids has acquired the rights for Star Trek clix of some kind or other, and I know there were always SWMs players who thought a d20 crossover in minis form would have been cool. Vader and a contingent of Stormtroopers battle their way across Kirk's bridge, or Picard and crew fend off a ship jacking alliance of the Ferengi and Jabba the Hutt's organization, phasers finally set to kill.

The big thread arguing about it over at HCRealms:
http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=279363
And the first post has a link to the WK blog containing the official announcement.

While I'm not jumping for joy excited, and most of the ST universe doesn't really interest me as a characters-as-minis game anymore, there are however some mild (only mild) butterflies in my stomach whenever I think of taking Wrath of Kahn era minis of Kirk and crew up against my Star Wars minis hordes on a Star Wars minis map. Of course they might not even be in the same scale, but if they were...

Even the possibility that there might be ST themed battlemaps piques the SWMs gamer in me. The square grids on WK's maps are much, much wider than on our own SW maps, to match their annoyingly wider dial bases, but decent maps of various ST locations could still provide some more cool battlefields for our SWMs.

Any thoughts?

Although I do enjoy most of the Trek shows and movies, I'm not as big a fan as SW and probably won't get into this one. I will keep my eyes on the development and see what they come up with. The ST theme could be enough to draw me in if the pieces and gameplay are decent. It would be cool if the scale is close to run a cross-universe game.

The idea of new maps for scenarios does sound good to me. Bigger squares wouldn't be too much of an issue for small and medium bases, but might be hard to follow with the larger ones. Haven't seen a Clix map in person or ever played the game, so won't rule it out just yet. Thanks for the info though.

Although I much prefer Star Wars, I don't think I'd like to face a Star Trek squad with any non-"red shirts"; you know the uniques won't die.

Not getting involved in this game...but does anyone think that this will lead to a star wars clix game based off SWM?

Nah. If Wizards dropped its license for Star Wars and killed Star Wars Miniatures, their "little company" that is WizKids isn't going to pick up making a Star Wars figure game.

I can see it now - Boba disintegrates one of them, and Scotty uses the transporter to reassemble them and drop them back into the battle. LOL

I would love to see the SAs for a Spock mini. Cool

BigGrin I do admit to a certain amount of sadistic amusement whenever I imagine the Solo children, their lightsabers all lit up, calmly stalking Wesley Crusher through the hallways of a starship.

However the old WK did at one time have their own SW licensed game (Pocketmodel) so the idea of their someday pulling off a SW game with miniatures isn't completely farfetched.

Then Commander Troi can say to the Solos: "I sense hostility from you." Good thing shes empathic. lol

Transportability could be great fun. The Borg should have the ultimate Betrayal-type ability. I want Q in my squad! And to see a swarm of Jawas take out Data with their Ion Guns. A cross-over would be great fun to play and might be enough to suck me in if they are close to compatible.

Piles of Tribbles are the new meat shields Razz

I'm actually becoming interested in this game...even if only for the crossover possibilities.

So much for being done with buying Plasticrack!

assimulation: If this chacter roll a 20, the target is assimulatied.
stats are simular to most other borg drones chacters, well they are in the card game

Spock;
nerve pinch, adjacent target is stunned.
mind meld; spock can copy ability of adjacent chacter
your thoughts are my throughts; spock can share hp with a adjacent chacter

I never really sat easy with the cross over possiblitys, just the millitist in me is screaming. No armour in a shooting scene? Just I think it just looks strange with red shirts vs star wars charcters. I can't imagine anyone having a whole lot of health. XD Except for the borg perhaps.

How's this: \\//_

Anyways, I just don't see how anyone in Star Trek (except for maybe Q) can stand up to people who can kill just by twitching their little finger; like Vader, Sidious, etc., without using time travel to prevent those characters from being born. There's also something I couldn't figure out about Star Trek....why don't you see a lot more fighters like in every other space epic? The abscence of such cool pimped out fighters in Star Trek will always be a major reason to me why Star Wars rules!!

Sincerely,
Jester007

Star wars will prolly end up as an add on to Heroscape, they just did a D&D release I don't see why SW wouldn't be far off, and it would fit the bill for LFL's press release a while back and Hasbro still owns that I believe

Shooting them seems to work just fine. And the Star Trek universe would also be able to beam them into space (or simply never rematerialize them).

Because targeting systems in Star Trek are much more precise. In the TNG episode Conundrum, the Enterprise goes up against several dozen fighters and vapes them all in a matter of seconds.

Somehow, I have a feeling that it might be the ships and not the people that will be made into miniatures. Probably with crew as cards you can add as abilities...

Sadly, Hasbro handed Heroscape off to Wizards a few years ago, and except for DnD all Wizards has done with it is to produce some of the sets that were already designed before they got it...
