I've recently been getting into customizing pieces. I started with something simple, just repaints of characters of minis I use multiples of to help me keep track of them.

I want to start getting into more cutting a repositioning too. Any advice or constructive criticism would be helpful.

I'd suggest learning how to work with "Green Stuff". You can buy tubes of all the different kinds of epoxy putties at gf9.com You can do a lot to build clothes, appendages, hair, fill gaps, etc. with green stuff. Grey stuff is good for adding bulk, and brown, I hear, is best for weapons. Just remember to keep your tools wet with water, the putty gets sticky otherwise.

Here're some of my customs.

Skinnerman had the right idea about sending you to the old WOTC but you should've seen this thread on customizing.

http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75862/19481530/Custom_Help_Thread

Starting with repaints is a good idea; like the double holsters on the Kel Dor BigGrin

Moving arms/legs is trickier, but keep going, you're moving in the right direction. Good Luck and Enjoy ....

Thats some smooth work there crazybirdman! BigGrin

the cuts and repositions are great; the paintwork nice, if a little high gloss.
Thats a shame about real world commitments: real world took a whole year out of you? whoa thats rough.

I also think that the key to minis/manual arts is practice (which sadly I dont do enough of ahhah). Im sure the more time you put into customising, the more you'll get out BigGrin

great work, and keep it up

Mostly repaints here, but I will definitely get more down now that I have a bit more free time!

Your next step should be trying washes to add shadows and depth. Really easy to use, but it adds a lot.

Good work on the figures as usual. I haven't heard anything about the Regional's. What's up with them?

Neat!
custom jedee's BigGrin thanks for sharing.
you'll have to share some recipes - I think a lot are clix or d&d/pathfinder mashups - they're quite striking and effective.
I think I spy a kobold there.

How are you making the blades these days? Is that Plastruct 1mm dia rod, 1.75 mm or some other source for the blades?
I've run pretty low on customising supplies, so if you know of where to source that kind of stuff in orange, purple and pink (a lot of female gamers request orange and pink hehe), that'd be awesome!

Also, by the by,
any chance you know where to acquire some
POP flight stands/ "acrylic sign holders"?
I've used up the last of those too - they're great for articulated flightstands for vehicles.
That's a nice segue for some challenges - it'd be great to see your take on some custom vehicles for the game -
breathe some extra life into this (and alternately, also into Imperial Assault, to even things out a little).

Great work, and inspiring as always BigGrin
