Here's an idea - what if BlooMilk had some custom stats that became "unofficially officially" recognized? You know - they could be new stat cards for existing minis. They could be loaded into the squadbuilder and be used as part of the Vassal leagues to keep things fresh. They could be called 'Extended Sets' or Xsets.

I'm not an expert at making customs, but it could work. We could elect some people to be on an oversight committee of some sort to manage things.

I don't expect this to happen, but mainly because I expect the real life Jedi Civil War to reach a truce eventually. But assuming it doesn't, what happens to BlooMilk? I track my collection here and build squads here. I use it to look up stats for Vassal games. Unless some other site does a better job with a squadbuilder and collection tracker, or BlooMilk goes away, I doubt that will change.

So if no truce is ever reached, what happens?

(a) BlooMilk loses traffic because it can't track the current game status, so it dies.
(b) BlooMilk just continues with only the WotC stats. To be honest, I don't think this will happen. In the long run, option (a) seems more likely.
(c) BlooMilk develops its own "unofficially official" custom stats.

Obviously, an "Xset" would cause a certain type of schizophrenia for a lot of people on BlooMilk, but that would already happen anyway if the squadbuilder here can't stay current with what's going on with the game at large. It would be like the American League and the National League playing by different rules, I guess.

I like what's going on with the game at large, and I'll continue to follow it on other sites, but conversation here might get kind of boring with nothing new to talk about. (Seriously - much thanks to the committee that's moving the game forward for the next GenCon.) But I'd prefer schizophrenia over stagnation in the forums here. However, I'm not going to volunteer to be in charge of anything like this.

Sounds like a good idea in theory, but you might have to be careful with something like that; it may be too similar to V-Sets and someone might get upset...Mad How stupid...

Seriously, though, the idea doesn't sound too bad. Another nice thing would be if we could add some people's custom figures to the squad builder; I know I wasn't too happy with the Force Unleashed set (it left too many figures out while including ones irrelevant to the set [the basis of the set was supposed to be the video game]), so it would be cool to create and use some of the "missing" figures.

It will have to be a pretty kick-ass endevour to overcome "imitator" preconceptions. Solid testing, folks with the ability to communicate and make concise mechanics. There's a lot of work involved that hink non-industry folks can take for granted.

BTW, are the V-set guys previously affiliated with any company? I suspect they probably aren't now, as the v-sets would likely be contractually problematic...

Such a split only widens the divide. Gamers has the experience at organizing and running the big events. So the rules are pretty much in their court. Which means the most visible and played Virtual sets will the ones on Gamers. The game can't survive if we have two different groups.

Another thing to note is that events like Regional and GenCon (both of which were organized by Gamers) would not allow a non-V-Set mini to be played. As always, custom minis are fine in local play based on House Rules, but for Official Tourneys it will only allow V-Set pieces to be played.

Customs can always be posted to the customs forum. Doing something 'official' would mean that it gets into the squadbuilder, and that would probably be quite an undertaking to go through all that process. But I'm sure yours would be candidates.

And it may be a moot point anyway. If the GenCon legal pieces are allowed back on BlooMilk there'd be no reason for a BlooMilk version. (Recent developments might change things. Or they might not. *shrug*)

I suppose one could come up with their own V-set and their own players league and host their own tournaments and organize their own gaming rules. That would take a monumental amount of work, but what man can do another can do! Since there is no longer a unified SWM community apparently, seems like anything is possible.

Agreed.

Besides, it's not like this site's permanently cut off from the v-sets. If we all work towards reconciliation, amends can be made and the V stuff will come back. 3 months is plenty of time for that, especially when you consider that a big step has already been made.

Hopefully a lot can change in the 3 months until the release. If we strive for peace we may luck out...
