Hey! I was just wondering if anyone had some ideas for particular squad builds with the V-Set figs. I realize we don't have the whole set out, but I know the wheels have definitely been turning in my head about what squads I want to build.

I've heard mention of a Mira Cannon squad with the Old Republic Senator. That sounds like a pretty good idea, and am interested in testing it out a bit.

Darth Bandon is a pretty cheap commander who makes all of the Sith beatsticks better with his CE, so I could see working him into an (invariably) melee-heavy Sith squad.

Who would you have Exar Kun ghost?

The Mando CIO is pretty much a no-brainer for all Mando squads who hope to compete against Rebs and NR.

Any other ideas?

(For reference, here's the site with the stats on Gamers: http://www.swmgamers.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=9571)

If this kind of information about the V-Sets is not allowed to be posted, just let me know and I'll take it down. I wasn't sure what amount of information was allowable, but still wanted to discuss. BigGrin

I can't wait to see what stats the new Black Sun Vigo will have? I like their little subfaction, I just wish there were more.

If they made one, it seems promising that there will be more, though not necessarily in the 1st set. I'm definitely anxious to see what the CE on this one says.

Guys, good conversation, and exactly what this site needs.

Ok, so my personal favorite combo with the known figures is Darth Talon, with Exar haunting her, and Freedon Nadd and Bandon. The three beats do well together, and Exar's Aura works really well with Sith Sorcery. The extra damage on AoO's (Talon can do 40dmg twin with rage and DB) really make them a nice combo.

To make the most of him (not doubling up abilities) the valid options are:
Logray, Ewok Shaman
Jarael
Jolee Bindo
Zuckuss, Bounty Hunter
Aurra Sing
PROXY
Darth Nihl
Kreia
Darth Nihilus
Komari Vosa
Lumiya, the Dark Lady
Cade Skywalker, Bounty Hunter

Komari Vosa and Cade having Twin would benifit nicely from Exar
Jarael has decent staying power and shock staff
Aurra Sing would be a decent choice for hunting Jedi

But I think I'd try him with Zuckuss, BH Scared

One think I like about the OR guy is that you can assault with a battlemaster then use the CE to finish off a Han,Rex,Dash. I think there are some cool tricks you can do with the CE and Hoth with a few of the OR shooters.

My Regional squads are in such flux right now, I really have to wait and see what else is in the set. Way to many ideas floating around with Exar and/or Bandon comboed with Freedon Nadd and/or Naga Sadow.

Mira Cannon is pretty fun, but as it stands today Battlemasters and the Senetor is the best combo IMO.

Let's also not forget that Mandos can now cancel everyone's activation control. They already had strong cunning and strong opportunist shooters; now the opportunist ones are that much more likely to get their shots off. That alone makes them a lot better.

I forgot about Lumiya. She already has Evade, so with TBSV and Bandon you can GMA within 3 and get +10 DAM. That works right?

As an OR Fan I like the way the V-Sets are going, I am apprehensive about the OR Senator, seems good but without a quality designated OR shooter like a Han Smuggler type relegating their attacks to only Battlemasters, while certain effective in many ways, might just bog down the squad a little. For instance 3 Battlemasters, Dash, OR Senator vs say 3 Battlemasters, Dash, and Jolee Bindo.

Not saying I dislike the idea or the mini the OR just needs a good power combo to go with it.

Of course anything that makes Mira more playable I am 100% for!Drool

Atton is good but OR will need some way to move him around/protect him before it would work. THat being said in no way do i want them to become "the other rebel faction"

I wouldn't call that a power combo. Love the piece and the faction to death, but Atton has Cunning. Look at Han Scoundrel's sharp decline once the init rule got changed AND Han Smuggler came out.

If Atton had Opportunist it might be a better combo, but unless you are getting a VERY specific set of attacks off it simply won't be that devastating, especially since Atton doesn't have Twin.

"Oh look, he downed 2 mice in a turn while moving! Hahaha....."

Keep in mind I play the OR religiously, I love Atton, he's a great piece just saying the Diplomat is interesting flavor, but having it be seen as an obvious strength of faction piece is debatable IMO.

Atton can easily get Twin from a Czerka.

In any case, the simple threat of an Atton barrage would force opponents to keep either keep their force users in the back and/or activate them right away so Atton can't get their cunning off.

Though, I'd say the best way to use the senator is not to have a singular cannon, but two different cannons that can be used depending on the situation (Like Atton and Cay).

I think you will be pleased with the variety of characters in the Vset. Kun DFS is a very versatile character and as more Vsets appear down the road this cheap mini can only get better. My personal favorite sith character as not been given out yet but is very good with Darth Bandon. Of cause though some of the stats might change between now and when the set comes out.

Out of all the minis though number 60 is my personal favorite mini, not sure it will reach it's fullest potential this vset but again as more vsets come out?

Based on the wording of Darth Bandons' CE - No, as it is said to state adjacent enemies, though the +10 from Sith Rage thanks to Kun would work for any of her attacks.

Well MR3 makes them adj during the attacks on their turn so why wouldnt it work?
from bloomilk so the wording might not be right but the main idea is there

Melee Reach 3

When attacking, this character treats enemies up to 3 squares away as adjacent

Glossary Text:

When making an attack on its own turn, this character treats all characters within 3 squares as adjacent for all purposes. This character can be affected by enemy special abilities or Force powers that specify adjacent characters and interrupt this attack, such as Self-Destruct.

Jonny is correct, they are considered adjacent when a melee reach character is making attacks. I've been waiting for someone to catch that combo in particular :)

Ah I guess I didn't catch (or just plain forgot as it's not an issue I've had to deal with) when they changed Melee Reach from just "for the purpose of melee attack" to "for all purposes".
