I purchased imperialknight1's collection (more or less found here) on September 10th. The trade agreement was that I was purchasing "between 400 and 500 pieces not 500 plus but more than 100 of them are rares and very rares." When I received the package I found that I had more cards than minis so I spent the time to pare all the cards to the figures and found that I received 317 commons and uncommon that had both card and mini, 118 rare and very rare that had card & mini, 40 minis with no card (2VR), and 142 cards with no mini (3R, 1RV). I e-mailed him concerning the discrepancy between the figures and the cards on 9/18/2010 and have not heard anything, I BlooMailed him on 9/21/2010 with the same text and still have not had a response (he was last on 9/26/2010 according to the site). I e-mailed his mother who processed the pay-pal transaction on 9/23/2010 and still have not had a response. So here is my question: since I did receive between 400 and 500 mini's and cards (435) with more than 100 of them rares and very rares, do I continue to pursue the orphans that I was shipped (many of which I am missing) or do I let it go?

Hunt him down, man. Report it to paypal, they are pretty good about getting your money back, If he doesn't respond soon put him on the bad traders list.
on the other hand, He did say between 400 and 500 minis, and it looks like you got what you payed for.
The minis without cards is no big deal, you can type up your own and make cars.
I know someone made an Orphans list for missing cards and minis, If you can find that you may be able to even some of the stuff out.

Jedicartographer makes a good point. It does appear that what you received falls within the description you quoted...
I would try to match up the orphaned minis with cards.
contact Hothie - he maintains the full orphans list, which could be moving to Bloo in the near future.

One one hand I am feeling short changed because I now have 180 orphans, on the other hand (when I look at the numbers) I got on the low end of what we agreed to. That is why I don't know what to do...

I need to recount the orphans I have as I recently picked up a bunch of stuff in a bulk purchase and I am probably in need of some cards.

I wouldn't let it go . The same thing happened to me , although not as large of quantity. I let it go and it still bugs me that I didn't do anything. Maybe it was a mistake, or perhaps he knew what he was doing. Either way its worth perhaps a little time on your part. There are to many shanksters out there trying to pull one over on people. Here's to drinkin the BLOO MILK!!

I bought a lot on ebay and it said there was an uggernaught and Lando from Jabba's Palace, Tamtel Skreej I think. So yeah when I got the lot I had most of what he said, but I had about 10 extra cards which included Skreej and an Uggernaught. But no minis for them. I left it and it is now too late to do anything about it. I really wanted that 2nd uggernaught.

You got exactly what was described. Let it go - he doesn't owe you anything. Track down as many orphans as you can. Would you rather he threw out any figures/cards that didn't match or would you prefer that he sent them to you like he did?
My orphan story is much less exciting - I got an ebay lot with 2 boosters and a starter sets worth of figures... minus a Telosian Tank Droid. I got the orphan card. But the Tank wasn't pictured or mentioned at all, so it's fine.

My vote is gonna depend on how vauge you are being with the description of the lot in your original post.
If he did describe it as you posted 'between 400-500, but not more than 500, but at least 100 r/vr' then you got what he said. He didnt specify that there were alot of orphans, but you didnt ask. If this is the case, then I think you should let it go, and chalk it up to lessons learned. You did receive what he described, it was just different than you thought.
If he described it as 'these pieces with cards', then yes, he has misinformed you intentionally (or perhaps just forgot to include some stuff) and you ought to go after him for it.
Either way, I agree, contact hothie about the orphan project.
Good luck!

As described, you did get what was listed, let it go, you will consume more time and energy trying to get things that may or may not exist :)

It sounds like you got exactly what you agreed upon and paid for, so I really don't see what the issue is (and I think suggestions to report it are terribly unfair and unreasonable to the seller).
You got what you paid for, plus 40 free bonus minis. Presumably you wouldn't have been the least bit worried if you got the same lot without the 40 cardless figures, so it sounds like the seller threw in quite a nice bonus to your trade. While you might really want the extra cards, I don't think it's worth pestering the seller to get them. It's not like the seller had them conveniently laying around and just didn't include them out of spite. My guess is he or she simply didn't have the cards, but thought that you might as well have the minis in case you could find a use for them as his/her collection is being sold off.
But, I realize that some gamers cannot stand having cards without minis / minis without cards, as I've found via the feverishness with which people have sought out particular (not even listed) cards from me when I posted up a big lot of extra R/VR orphan cards for trade ("Hey, I really really need an extra Nikto Soldier from Alliance and Empire card! I've got 7 minis but only 6 cards!!!!! Please help!!!!!!!!!" --note: this is an exaggerated, made-up, silly example for harmless entertainment value, but you get the idea). And I intend no disrespect to anyone, goodness knows that as geeks we probably all have our own gaming/hobby quirks that we insist upon that most others might not fully understand (I certainly have plenty, hah).
If keeping cardless minis would be undesirable for whatever reason, you could probably easily trade them off on the trading threads as a big lot of cardless minis that could be used for customization. Make sure to mention that with the V-Sets rolling out, stocking up now on extra customization fodder and bits could be a great idea, as I think that would help the lot move pretty quickly. I can't imagine you'd have too much trouble trading a lot like that for the right, reasonable price. I'd personally value it about a few low to mid Rares. Hope this helps!

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Only 40 minis that you need cards for isn't too bad, since the minis are really the main thing that you would want.
Still, I would keep trying to contact him to make sure he didn't send things by mistake.

If nothing else, you could use the 40 extra minis for customs for the V-set pieces.

Or uggernaughts and Arica...

Problem is, would you have anything to complain about had you not received any of those orphans? NO, because you did get exactly what was described to you (albeit "on the low end" - that honestly doesn't matter though) IN ADDITION you got some bonuses (to compensate for being on the low end of the 400-500 spectrum).
You really have no course but to let it go, as if you were this concerned about it initially you would have gotten a list of everything you were purchasing, and knew exactly what you were to receive.

I sent one final e-mail. If I hear from him, I hear from him, and if I don't, I don't.
@Lord_Ball - I did not complain that I know of, I was just sharing that because of my mixed feelings that I did not know what to do and wonted an outside perspective.
[edit] I have the orphans listed in my trade threat.
