Check out the Holocron!

BigGrin

Once again, please lets not post the stats here, so the site that was given the preview can have the traffic.

Thats going to be a fun piece to play. Only one question about him for the design team or some in touch with them, im going to keep it vague so i dont spoil the piece but why does his one ability only work with the first piece of a certain character and not with the newer version of him that more people have. i know i wasn't around when the first was released so i never had a chance to get him. again i am probably the only one who cares but just wondering why it was made that way

Might be an incentive to use the original?

I'm fairly sure it is an existing SA...

It is an existing SA. One of the those that always annoyed me as it easily could have been errata'd to work with both versions of the character without unbalancing something in the game.

Cool piece.

Well, for one thing, it's an existing SA already, so to update the SA would be to change WOTC's work, and I don't think the designers wanted to do that, nor did they want to create a new SA. Also, the old GAT is still a good piece, and his Ysalimiri can still be very strong in the right squads. It's just that most people have gotten attached to the mass-activations/Ozzel/Opportunist style of playing, that they forget about the old Thrawn.

Finally, the design team went through quite a bit of debate and fact checking, and determined that Ruhk really didn't join Thrawn until after he had reach Grand Admiral status, and so that's the reason they went this direction.

He's still a solid piece with either version though. ;)

I think there will be more incentives to run the old thrawn at least 1/3 of the time over Mith as the V-sets continue. This piece isn't necessarily designed to do that, as Lobo pointed out, it was a costing issue, and a canon issue more than anything else - the requirement of using old thrawn was actually just a bonus point to him.

For example, a figure with these stats, and ability to BG Mith, would have bumped his cost into the low to mid 20s. So in a sense, you are saving the 5 points on Ruhk that you spend on running GAT over Mith if you want to run the pair. Of course he's also costed very well so that you don't have to do that to make him a very good figure either :) That's the beauty of how it came out - he has the canon right, without what WotC used to do with these types of figures and "build the squad for you" kind of stuff. This guy synergizes in different ways with both thrawns, and that's what we really wanted.

My bad for not clarifying - (I did it on Gamers too :P) I was actually grousing about the fact that WotC never made an errata, not the v-set guys. :)

I know that the designers won't be changing anything in the core ruleset. Keeping with canon makes sense, not that it is a big issue for the skirmish game.

At his cost, Ruhk will be very useful in many squads. Fear the Cleave. ThumpUp

Opportunist, Charging, Cleave work equally well together :)

But I will keep my eye out for an extra, and if I can get one it's yours. BTW, have you guys settled on a new spot to play yet?

I can't quite tell what the recommended mini is (seems more distorted than the others). I'm sure I'm just missing something, but can someone please post/confirm? Thanks!
