Just wondering if anybody knows how that works?

I'm guessing we will have to wait until the complete set is officially released.

YIt is my understanding the BlooMilk has to have an 'emergency stop button' installed that will hide all the V-set stats when pushed before they can add any of the new minis. If my understanding is correct it may be some time before the new set is added.

I would expect the absolute earliest would be whenever Shinja gets around to appointing extra moderators with Admin powers, for the rare chance that LFL comes knocking and the V Set has to be pulled down. In addition, might not be until the full set is released.
For the time being, just jot down the stats, or use MiniManager and the Custom piece maker, and input them into MiniManger yourself. :)

I can't believe I didn't think of that!

I can't believe I didn't think of that! I'm a bit behind at the moment, but I started doing that when the first piece was spoiled. There is a good bit of copy/paste that has to be done for abilities/powers that are new or were never added to the custom builder. I'm even linking up the images of the recommended mini. The character browser here is really convenient for grabbing the pics. :)

For anybody that uses MiniManager but doesn't feel motivated to input the custom stats yourself.....I've already been keeping up with it for the entire set, for my own purposes while play-testing pieces. So, when the whole set releases, I plan to make available a way to very quickly get all 60 pieces into MiniManager. Basically will just have to open up the Text file that I make, then copy/paste everything into the SWMiniManagerCustoms.ini file for MiniManager. Works VERY easily. If you're impatient though, you'll have to do them one at a time now as they are getting previewed.

Yeah, that will be nice :) Maybe we'll get lucky and there will be a zip file with all the images of the recommended minis to go along with the data file.

Well, I'm not quite super well-versed in Minimanger, so I'll look into how I would make it work with the images as well. I'm sure that one of the guys who has been actively working to keep up the MiniManager software will probably release a full-updated version or something when they are able to. I don't mind helping in the interim though. People will just have to make sure they have the customs turned on in the program.
I'll have to see how the photo thing works. I know you can add photos for custom figs, but I've never tried that before. So I'll have to see where it keeps it stored and stuff.

But not really. ;) You are probably right that the mini manager could get another update after the set is out. For the sets since Jedi Academy, there have been folders with the images for those sets inside the main mini manager folder. I just made another folder like that. The folder could be anywhere on your hard drive, but it makes sense to keep it with the others. When using the custom builder it makes no difference what the image files are named. Grab the pictures from the web (like from here), save them in your folder, then just browse to them from within the custom builder and select the one you need as you build the piece. The one thing I don't recall is if I've had to resize them, but since they are stored in the file system you can tweak them after the fact. I'll do another one to refresh my memory when I get a chance. Lastly, I would be willing to work on pulling the images together, but obviously I don't have a full list of the recommended minis. Send me a message if you're interested in pursuing this and would like some help. I plan to do it anyway, bit by bit.

Currently Shinja is, understandably, the only one with that level of control, and the only one who should have that level of control. Adding some sort of kill switch or new administrator account most likely requires additional coding. I don't know what the plans are for this, or even if there are any, but it would certainly be nice to have the figures available in the database for army building.

I don't consider the virtual set(s) official, but more of a fan effort, so I won't be adding it to the mini manager. If someone picks up the license and starts releasing new sets, though, I'll be on top of it. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hmmm. Well I am sure there are other people willing to do it. But this raises a question. What do you mean by "official"? Do you mean legal for tournament play? Do you mean legal for the championship? Do you mean produced by WotC? The only meaning that makes sense for you is that an "official" set is one that's made a licensed company for profit, including many bad characters, repeat, and poorly designed sets, precisely because this keeps costs down, and profits up. As an alternative, Gamers is making a set of figures where all 60 are usable, none are really wastes of space, very few repeats, and at least I think the set is very creatively and progressively designed. Oh and they will be legal for tournament play, and the championship - so that can't be the reason they aren't "official". Personally, I see little point in making an "official" argument. These figures are as official as it gets in terms of the game's future, but if you are seriously waiting around for someone else to make the exact same game again? Well good luck with that. The company that owns the license makes metal miniatures.

The company that owns the license makes metal miniatures. I have to admit that when WotC dropped the game and people started talking about v-sets my initial reaction was to stick with the "official" set and ignore the new stuff. I've only played locally with a handful of friends, so tournament play was not really a big consideration. Although I was disappointed, part of me was relieved that I wouldn't feel compelled to shell out hundreds of dollars every few months anymore. However, I have been quite pleasantly surprised by how my attitude has changed recently. With the release of some v-set previews I find that I can't wait to get my hands on the cards. With just a couple of pieces from the new set I will finally be able to play Mandos without knowing that there are several matchups that will be impossible for me to win. I'm excited to see some needed boosts for OR and Sith too. I've invested so much money in my collection that anything that makes about 50% of it actually playable is a great thing in my book. So, I have to say that I agree with Bill. There is no good reason to think of "official" pieces as those produced by WotC anymore. I'm convinced that the v-set is going to make the game a whole lot more diverse and enjoyable, and that's all that really matters. I mean, we play for fun even when we are competitive, right? I'm going to try to persuade my friends in the Akron, OH area to use it with me.

I think Bill if you take a look at prior posts by bkchi you will see he has already made his mind up about the v-set quite a while ago.
That is fine please dont officially update it. It is not that hard to do it ourselves.
As far as waiting for the company that picked up the licesne to put something out till you update..... Good Luck with that.
