So I've been looking for D&D and HeroClix minis to use as bases for some customs for DotF, but I'm feeling overwhelmed with the sheer number of minis out there, and have only identified a couple that are good. What are some other models you guys think would be good for DotF customs? Preference goes to minis that are relatively cheap, lol.

So far, I identified:
Voxyn

(Warbound Impaler)

Jaina Solo, Sword of the Jedi

(Kalashtar Bodyguard)

Revanchist

(Human Wanderer)

(Snaketongue Cultist)

Joruus C'Baoth

(Doomdreamer)

(Animated Statue)

Exar Kun, Force Spirit

(Lurking Wraith)

(Shadow)

(Animated Statue)

Nen Yim

(Drow Spider Priestess)

(Drow Arachnomancer)

Shedao Shai

(Drow Arcane Guard)

Sith Inquisitor

(Animated Statue)

Old Republic Senator

(Animated Statue)

Haven't checked Prices, but here's some more choices

Exar, DFS

For the Revanchist I always thought

was a perfect base (just swap the staff for a LS)

Nen Yim
or

Shedao Shai

Feeling ambitious with a paintbrush? This may work for the Senator (or Exar, Inquisitor, or Joruus)

Wow that last one COULD make a really good Joruus with some careful painting. Thanks for the ideas!

And I found a link to all of WotC's miniature galleries for some good close-up pictures of the D&D minis:

Can we get at least the names of the figures, if not what game they are from so it is easier for us to find them. I think this thread is a great idea though. I got that Jaina figure as soon as I saw her in the other thread.

Here's a couple of D&D minis that can be had pretty cheap, that I suggest considering for RaR customs.

This one is for Master Thon:

Called Bluespawn Stormlizard from D&D Blood War

This one is is for a mini I will name on this Thur SHNN show :)

It's called the Fiendish Tyrannosaurus from D&D GoL

Enjoy :)

Thanks! I love spoilers.

More Yuuzhan Vong suggestions:
Blood ASh Archer (Dreamblade)

Hazardin Grenadier (Dreamblade)

Saurian Trooper (Heroclix)

And a Pizza Hut toy Micromachine Salacious Crumb:

Nice spot on the Blood ash archer... i have some spares and might use for slayers in the upcomming V set... what do you think ?

( ps: I put my Ki-adi pic up on the gallery)

@Azman

I'm also using Saurian Trooper for my Shimrra but haven't finished the conversion yet. Shedao Shai was the one who wore a mask in battle so I plan to do a head-swap. I just need a Shedao body in proportion to the Saurian head.

Your excellent Ki-Adi Mundi is in the gallery now.

I have the Blood Ash Archer (Dreamblade) and Brainiac (Heroclix) and they're both a little big compared to SWM. If anyone needs some pics for comparison, let me know.

Yeah, but aren't the Anti-Vong bots suppose to be kind of on the big side anyway?

Although they don't map to any particular characters, I think that skeletal group from Heroscape (the Marro?) could stand in as decent Vong with a little touch-up.

There are also quite a few robots that could be droids of various types.

The Dreamblade minis are larger than SWM. For some YV and aliens, they can work. I ordered a Dreamblade piece named (I think) Infernal Preacher with the intent to make a custom and it may as well be a large-base SWM. So some of them are just much too big.

Don't necessarily rule out HorrorClix. I have a few and some of them turned out (with a few simple twists) to be good minis. I had to use the Satanic Cultist to be a Joruus as he had his hands raised in the air!

I have to look at my stuff to be certain. I know someone used an Angelique from HorrorClix to be Nen Yim.

There is a few nifty pieces. Is it as vast as D&D? No, some of the special effects are good on the trim stuff. There is a lot of ethereal effects like souls and such.

My Two Cents on D&D Miniature...

Githzerai Monk
I like him as some sort of Falleen

Slayer of Domiel
A little Jedi Hotness...

Artemis Entreri
Revanchist. But a bit pricey...

Male Half-Elf Druid
It would need some work but it could be a good Rahm Kota

Male Human Paladin
It would take more skills then I have but... Kueller

Deathlock Wight
There is a Vong in there some ware...

Cloaktrick Rogue
Totally Rosh Penin

Defiant Rake
I made Lord Kaan from this one

Deepshadow Elf
Some sore of Jedi in there...

The Human Marauder from DD4 makes for a nice Darth Revan SL. A little carving of some Clone Troopers for armor pieces and face mask and your good to go.
