Did someone pick up the SW license after WOTC?

Is the game still going to have more releases?

The game is currently continuing in the form of Virtual Sets (V-Sets) by SWMGamers. They have produced 1 set so far, Destiny of the Force with 60 new stat cards (the cards are now Out-of-Print but you can download the cards on the main page of SWMGamers). They are currently working on the second V-Set, Renegades and Rogues, due out at GenCon.

As of now, no one has the SWM license. The community has been developing and producing V-sets. One has currently been released with two more in the works. Th next set is scheduled to premiere at GENCON.

Check out swmgamers.com for more info on the Vsets. Destiny of the Force was set 1. R&R is set 2. The Battle of Theed Palace is a mini set coming out soon. V set 3 is in the planning.

Someone who knew someone said it had been picked up and we needed to keep an eye out...

This is as official as it gets.

I can not imagine that a new company would use the WOTC mechanics, so they would make a new game.

Agreed - no new minis, but the VSets are legal for tournaments so I don't know how much more official you can get than that.

I'm pretty certain someone has the license. However, they don't have the WOTC mechanic licenses. So don't expect this game to continue from another company.

Any news on the funding for Vset 2 or the Theed Palace set? Is kickstarter going to be used again?

I think Dean is going to recommend that everyone should just make a donation straight on SWM Gamers. The first v-set had both Kickstarter AND Amazon take cuts of all the money that was put towards the project. So naturally, to save money, Dean wants to cut out the middle-men to make sure that there's enough funding for production and mailing.

Sincerely,

Interesting... so how does one play with these V-sets? Is it pretty much proxying the pieces and using the V-sets' card stats?

Pretty much.

Each V-set card had a picture on it of a 'recommended mini' to use with it. But there are many people who have chosen to customise figs. V-set 1 was called Destiny of the Force and can be found here. Set 2 is named Renegades and Rogues and is currently under development.

@Engineer and the designers - I think you guys need to post official Calendar informing others that we would have mini Battle of Theed set coming soon and the RnR Full Set which should follow afterwards, just like Wotc Catalogue's previously.
better of with some tentative dates and nice posters to go with it. Love

Vset 2 won't be out until August.. I'm sure once dean gets the last stragglers for DotF shipped out, and finishes shipping out some other minis, he'll post something up on how you can do so. For now, just be patient.. we're hard at work! :D

Keep an eye on the general forums at both sites. Look for the thread.

A calendar would mean sticking to some dates. We all do lots of other stuff outside SWM. There are general dates, but they are not published. (would you really like to know when the set list for V set 3 is final)

The Battle of Theed Palace has half the figs set (5) and the few remaining are out for playtesting.

Posters? That is a thought. Are you volunteering? Johnny did a nice poster for the regionals this year. Download it at gamers.

@ Engineer

This is an example of what I'm suggesting, we does not need to put a real date,
but tentative quarter would be enough to give an idea of what to BigGrin expect!
