I have really been wanting an app for my iPhone for SWM. I am very surprised that no one has attempted to make one. I can think of a lot of things that would really be useful.

*d20 dice roller
*and odds calculator (for instance what are the odds of hitting if I need to roll a 15 and I can make three attacks?)
*and HP and FP counter for multiple characters
*a way to look up characters

Those are just some ideas. Even one or two of them would be nice. I would pay 10 bucks for that because I would use it ALL the time.

I have a d20 die roller. It's a hard little plastic thing that I use when I want a random number from 1-20. Oh, yeah ... it's called a die. Laugh

An app sounds like a good idea, but I don't know that I would trust a Dice Roller app that someone else was using. It might just be me, but it seems like it would be too easy for someone to "rig".

With that being said, the rest of the ideas sound GREAT!

Yea; I like the simple joy of rolling a D20. Before you know it; all of SWM might go virtual! Oh wait; it has, its called VASSAL :D

Theres already a number of apps out there for a die roller and the keeping track of FP and HP jsut requires a retasking of any number of the apps for magic that keep track of life and other ocunters.

I was just thinking about this during some recent hour + car trips. I was only thinking of it from a standpoint of squad building and having access to a database of characters though. Adding in an odds calculator and some other handy things that could help you during a game hadn't even entered my mind.

I could probably make an odds probability simulator, but it could only be used for certain not too well known programs and devices.

Why use a boring odds-calculator when you can use the great minds you all have! Example: the chance of hitting needing a 16 in 3 Attacks would be the equivalent of the (P - N)/P; N being the probability of rolling less than a 16 on all three attacks and P being all possible combo of rolls on all three attacks..

So; to calculate N, you can do 15C1 cubed (15 possible rolls choose 1 cubed three attacks) which is (15!/14!1!) cubed which is 15 x 15 x 15 = 3375.

Calculate P: 20 cubed (20 possible rolls cubed three attacks) = 20 x 20 x 20 = 8000.

(8000 - 3375)/8000 = 4625/8000 = approxtimately 58 percent chance of hitting at least one attack on those three rolls.

A scientific/graphic calculator is really all you need to do even the most complex probability problems. You just need to know what buttons to click :D

LOL; well; if you see an opponent with a scientific calculator in hand at the next regional; youll know its me! :P And actually; if you know what buttons to click itll take at most maybe 30 seconds to do...it wont take about 5 minutes per caluclation lol.

But seriously; wouldnt an odds caluclator do the exact same thing as a scientific calculator? Just maybe...easier to use than a SciCalculator? :)

which is exactly why he wants it. me and my friends thought about this too, and if anyone is able to program an app, that'd be great.. maybe even a mini app where it gives every figure and corresponding set and you can keep track of the ones you have and your squads; a much more portable option of some features they sites provide. if someone was up to create it, especially one that kept track of health/force points, i'd be up for creating the interface for it in photoshop as long as someone knew how to code it.

One of my friends, who designs apps for the iphone and Ipad has talked about making a minis app. If there was enough interest in it, i'm sure he would do it. I will keep bugging him to do it. He actually got me into the game back in 2005. He loves the game so I'm sure it wouldn't be tough for him to make the app appealing. I'll start working on him.

An app would be cool, although I don't think I can get it on my phone. I'm about to start the planning phase of an electronic 20 sided die. I have some picture's to post of a 2 six sided dice project we did for our Digital II class. Wink Works great for Monopoly. ThumbsUp

It's pretty simple and not (imo) all that useful, but it was requested. I was going to throw it up into the marketplace but there's a $25 fee to register so you can upload. If anyone wants it, though, send me a BlooMail and I can probably get it to you 1 to 1.
