Wait, 100 points of gambit in 1 round? I thought it was 25 in epics.

By stipulating that only the Epic piece could score gambit (worth 100 points) this indeed would force combat. Now that I've had time to reflect I'm not sure I'd reduce the gambit points, using my three matches as a baseline three very different gambit scenarios occured. In my first match against emtjoe, my WC stole swap from Thrawn which was important be cause my map choice of Cantina prevented me from getting into gambit but it was still a solid choice from a Melee perpective. So as the match played out there was no need for me to for chase down the TPM as he would have been mowed down. Using my movement I was able base and kill Vader AoE, Arica and Cad trading for Shedao and two Ossus, a most equitable trade IMO. 3pts Next against Hinkbert... I had to be patient because of HK and his shooters and really what hurt me was my inability to clear out just one or two of his mouse droids to clear the path to Revan sooner; because when I got to him in round five the beat down was on and I just couldn't finish him off in time " numbers make me angry," oh and so do Revan and Satele! Loss Final match pitted me against Juice Man and his undying Ganner; must tip my hat to Juicy as it was the most infuriating build I faced all weekend, because The Ganner simply wouldn't die! I won map and I chose his map Peaceful City mainly because he would invariably plop Ganner down in gambit and I would be in the same situation as I was against Hink. However I was able to move my force up enmass and instead of launching my Ossus against Jacen JK, I decided on the full assault on the Ganner. To cut to the chase, just about every single piece in my squad engaged The Ganner and the amount of damage was staggering and with no cost Lightsaber Def and Avoid Defeat and MoTF2; then sprinkle in Essence of Life he was a flat out beast. Finally he went down along with Mara Jade, JM and Cade Padi. 3pts So Epic on Epic occured in the center ring as I had wanted in 2 of 3 matches and the four (4) CE limit also kept things from getting out of hand with the builds. I will simply say this, it was the most fun I've had playing in an Epic 500! "Purple Jeedai Eaters" Czulkang Lah Warmaster Tsavong Lah Warmaster Nas Choka Shedao Shai Nen Yim Ossus x3 Yammosk Zam Wessel, BH Klatoo Assassin x2 Rodian Assassin Uggie Demo x3

Dude it was an absolute blood bath from the beginning of round two, the amount of damage I was dishing out was absurd! Love Zam in this build but maybe need to drop an Ossus for a Quednak to clear the chaff and maybe an Uggie Vet to do SB. Shedao was big w/MR2 vs The Ganner as well..

Could be that there were no open squares adjacent to Ganner that Shai could get to, in which case he stands and attacks. It's kinda like Savage, if you can't base the enemy, you aren't required to move closer to them. On peaceful city, if Ganner was fully in gambit wouldn't he be up against a wall? edit: Yes, depending on side, door status and placement of the other attackers, it's possible that Shai could stay put and swing away from 2 squares.

Well unless Juiceman put his own figures adjacent to the Ganner (which would be less than ideal) Gerry didn't have enough figures that wouldn't instantly die to surround The Ganner, even if he was against a wall.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to see it going down that way without something being forgotten.

Heal, Augment Heal, Avoid Defeat, Evade, Ligthsaber Defense, Essence of Life, and when I rememberd, Crab Armor 6 plus Leia's re-rolls. The look on DN's face was priceless. He still won, but it was fun.

Here was my squad for the 300 pt:
37 Grand Admiral Thrawn 28 General Weir 27 Lobot 21 General Veers 85 Storm Commando x5 16 Admiral Gilad Pellaeon 14 Imperial Officer 13 Amanin Scout 11 Admiral Ozzel 8 Mas Amedda 8 R4 Astromech Droid 8 R7 Astromech Droid 8 Wicket 5 Salacious Crumb 8 Gran Raider x2 3 Ugnaught Demolitionist
Yea like Tim said I think him beating me in swiss made me rethink my reinforcements for the final, also me winning map made a very huge difference(cargo docks). In the semi-finals playing Trevor with his Mace in the Face Skybuck I actually created a wall of my Storm Commandos hiding everyone else behind. We were playing on Smugglers Base and I chose the side with the garage/room. It was just about un-winnable for him from the start. Big thanks to Corey for putting this awesome event togeather and making the sweet trophies. Also thanks to Gerry for accepting my suprise stay on saturday night and also letting me use his six storm commandos. And thank you steve for the week old cookies that he stole and made me sick. Great weekend can't wait fo Frostey Con! -Luke(not Chris)

As I posted over on gamers, I think if there was a foul up it could have been with Shedao but he still was had A fair amount of distance to close on Ganner. All of my other melee pieces were directly adjacent to the him.

cheating? power leap? to many v-sets to fast? v-sets not in bloomilk squad builder? 75 minutes for 500 point/16 activation squad? trying to balance the factions with the v-sets? then overbalancing them?
ignoring SWM players? ignoring bloomilk members?
any and/or all of the above questions may answer the previous question.

Avoid Defeat comes from Mara, right?

any and/or all of the above questions may answer the previous question. Sorry - I am not trying to be the know-it-all nerd who is criticizing someone for not knowing every little detail on a card. Especially an Epic one. This match just caught my attention after-the-fact because it seems like such a mismatch on paper. Cheating is off that list because I know both guys, and there was certainly no intentional cheating. Could a minor flub have happened because both guys missed it? Absolutely. We all don't get to play as often as we like, and when we do it's rarely Epic. The Epic cards are so stacked it's tough to remember it all. My intention was more from a pure point of curiosity. sith happens wrote: ignoring SWM players? ignoring bloomilk members?
Why the chip on your shoulder, friend? I promise everyone involved is trying to make decisions that will move the game in a direction that is more fun for all. We won't agree on everything, but nobody is intentionally ignoring any particular group or trying to sabotage anyone's fun.

Avoid Defeat comes from Mara, right? Yes - I misread and thought it was old Mara

The minor flub: since no V-4 BMed myself re-worked the squad so I could print it, then changed it on paper. Forgot it was changed on paper. Here it is. 149 The Ganner 58 Mara Jade, Jedi Master 40 Anikin Solo Galactic Hero 33 Jacen Solo, Jedi Knight 30 Vergere 58 Jedi Demolitionist x2 26 Kyp Durron 25 Cilghals friend 25 Leia Skywalker, Jedi Knight 23 General Wedge Antilles 20 Cade Sky Pad 4 Tuskin Raider 9 Mouse Droid x 3 Three healers Vegere, Tekli, Cade. Disapointed with myself for not grasping "None Shall Pass". And not remembering my Leia re-rolls all the time. And staying up so late. Enjoyed it all.

You had three healers all along - I just forgot that Cade and Vergere heal.
