It comes down to what aspect of a character you are trying to focus on when you design him. With Baze it is very obvious the designers focused on his synergy with Chirrut and the other rogue one characters. It isnt wrong to do this, but for those of us that would have preferred a stand alone, BA Baze will be left feeling like he missed the mark. We have all said our peace and I am sure the designers have taken note for future designs. Hell, we may even see another Baze in the future.
For now, lets find a subject more worth while to devote our conversations towards.

Just stick to your guns and say hey we did it go gameplay reasons and leave it at that. It's all about his gun . . . who ever said he was only getting 10 damage because the only thing he kills are 10hp Stormtroopers? That's dumb. 20 base damage would have greatly restricted which abilities we could give Baze and what boosts we could give Rogue One. We wanted to represent Baze's Heavy Repeater weapon. However, we didn't think Baze should get to rapid fire 40 to 50 damage shots without having to team up with Chirrut or Rogues. Darkdracul wrote:General_Grievous wrote:base 10 is weird but maybe it's his rapid fire mode? Ding! Ding! Ding! That scene where Baze comes out of nowhere and blasts away a bunch of Stormtroopers! Then later he goes on a death march and takes out Death Troopers who were like the most Elite Stormtroopers ever seen. Heck yeah, we gotta represent that! So Baze can Double for 80 and even get GMA to kill Deathtroopers in a single turn or furious for 40 to 50 damage on multiple characters. Judge him by the size of his Damage rating do you? Look at the guns below . . . same deal with Baze. The little pistol has a MASSIVE Damage rating but is a one shot deal with bad range few boosts and a long time to refresh. The Heavy Repeater (like Baze) has a LOW Damage rating but fires multiple of shots with nice range several boosts and a quick refresh period.

Darkdracul I am starting to feel like I am putting so much pressure on you about this. Look, Baze's weapon has its own stats... They are incredible. That stinking gun is amazing, I know I payed a movie about it and deathsbaine posted a quote or two about it. Thinking of size of weapon vs per makes me think of the little cricket from Men in Black. However, that is not the case here. How gun does tons of damage from whatever range you want.
As far as I know that information is set in stone. It is no longer subjective. Now the argument for why he had to team up with other rogues is, I feel, a more opinionated discussion. I, personally, do not feel he should really get any bonuses other than from maybe Jyn and definitely Imwe. But relationships are harder and I think people can see it differently. I just remember imwe and baze not being that enthralled by cassian.. Once again I am going to try and leave the discussion. I think everything has been said (but I have been proven wrong before) The furious assault, single shot blaster, atk 8, and damage 10 are not Baze, I think we can know that, learn from it, and move on. Like I said, I think game play wise people will enjoy the design.

It's all so clear now.
We all watched a fictional movie and are trying to transfer what we saw into stats for a character that actually works in our game. Nothing in the game transcribes directly into our game, and literally everything is an abstraction, and all 100% subjective.
OR SO WE THOUGHT.
I have seen the light - and that light is Jen'ari! He sees fact in a world full of fiction. He is the one person who can tell us what is accurate and what is not.
That is where we failed - we didn't consult Jen'ari. What were we thinking!?!
Jen'ari is clearly the smartest person in the SWM community (if not the world). How arrogant of us to think we could do anything right without his specific guidance.
WWJD
What would Jen'ari do?
Design team - that is the question we need to start asking ourselves. With every character. With every ability. With every stat.
I'm going to request a special Jen'ari only forum be set up. We'll give him access to guide our pitiful helpless attempts at designing. He can correct the horrible missteps and mistakes that we will inevitably make without him.
I am requesting that set 15 sets up the special forum immediately.
Jen'ari - we will always put you and your personal opinions above all else in the game - because we now see that your personal opinions are FACT, and our personal opinions - if they differ from yours - are wrong.
Community - you all can help out by asking WWJD with everything you do as well.
I might even start to look for guidance from Jen'ari with life decisions outside of SWM, if he were to be so gracious as to gift me with such advice.
WWJD forever

TimmerB123,
You've opened my eyes. I used to think the things happening in the Star Wars films was a bunch of stuff made up by writers, but now I realize they're concrete facts. We've wasted so much time trying to make things we thought were good for playing the game but completely neglected the people who just want to look at the cards and draw movie connections.
Our entire way of thinking was wrong and it's probably too late for us to change. Jen'ari has revealed many truths we never realized. For instance, did you know that it's ok for CEs to be subjective but that Special Abilities and Force Powers must be based on concrete Star Wars movie facts? Jen'ari could help us see the differences between those facts and our own misguided Star Wars fantasies.
I'm down for appointing Jen'ari "FLAVOR MASTER" and letting him critique our designs before release. Then we'll have a good gauge of community outrage whenever we are considering gameplay over flavor. Creating broken game pieces is inevitable but failing to capture a character's flavor is unforgivable.
Thank you for showing us how mistaken we have been Jen'ari.

Wait a minute, you mean the stuff that happened in the movies is actual factual? Then where the hell is my lightsaber?
