I only ever knew one guy who actually used them. Many a joke was made about some of the more extremely unintuitive selective of tokens, like the multiple Oooglith Masquer tokens.

I turn my pieces and "tap" their cards. It is much easier to remember that way.

I use the tokens for Force Points, d6s for damage (counting down), 1 on a d6 for a locked open door, 6 on a d6 for a locked closed door, and 3 on a d6 for a blasted door. I turn my miniatures when they are activated.

You turn the pieces? Like face you, then opponent, then you again? I'm too lazy to do that, so I just turn the cards sideways, not even 180 degrees!

I know I have seen some merge the SWM tokens with glass beads so you had a see-through token. These were beads with a felt backing so you could remove the backing, affix the token, and then reapply the backing.
I typically put my cards in a collector's page and then use dry erase. I put tiny rubber bands of different color to mark multiple high HP pieces. As for activation, I am working on an idea and will post it if I get any positive results.

I don't like rotating the figures because it makes the game look kind of silly - characters staring into walls instead of looking at their enemies. Plus I can never remember which is which, and there are several characters who are looking backward where I can't always tell which way they're looking. I don't usually run swarms, though. I can see the issue in that case.

So if it isn't Magic (or perhaps another game by the same company), it isn't tapping. SWM is activating. You'll also hear exhausting, spending, etc. There's are lots of different terms: http://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/16940/definitely-not-tapping/page/1?

It is very possible that the game system I'm thinking of used a different term and I simply equated it with tapping.

R5Don4 wrote:ACTIVATED Holy crap. A long time ago, I bought a SWM lot on ebay and it came with a bag of those tokens. I always wondered what the hell they were. I only use the FP and Damage counters though. And having seen how everyone at Gencon does it, I'm thinking of switching to D10s for damage. Not that they matter on vassal. I will also be buying some of those fancy counters from that website. Nice. I generally only take the minis for my squad, along with a few extra ones just incase. I put these in my Pirates tin layered with bubble wrap, like a lasagne. I just keep my cards with them too for ease of carrying. If I ever start using a bigger box, I may keep the cards in their collector pages.
