All makes sense! Thanks again everyone. So I'm pretty much decided on the iceberg analogy. The huge base being the surface/rim of the nutrient pool of what I'm thinking is a small-medium sized yammosk with only the smallest amount above the surface of the pool. Any description of what the rim of the tank would look like? I suppose any organic looking growth/structure would suit a vong gestation tank. Alright, one final unrelated question. This probably does not belong in this discussion but I'd prefer not to litter these boards with another thread of my annoying questions ... So Vong Workers. I get that they are the largest caste but are they physically distinguishable in any way? Armor, clothing, adornments?

Workers are a number of things, some are slaves from any species with wha are called 'Coral Implants' these are basically seeds implanted in their body that grow in to almost tumor looking appendage on their bodies. It makes them subservient and kind of hive mind like in just obeying. Another kind are shamed ones who do much work for the vong. They are previously warriors, shapers and so forth that scared them selves and their wounds did not heal (a curse from the god) and are now workers. *SPOILERS* Yammosk is a Mini Bus. World Brain is a doubledecker Bus. In my eye this is incorect the world brain took up the entire area that was once the galactic senate building in its own pool. So it is the size of, well, the galactic senate building.

That's very interesting about the slaves and coral implants! I was more asking about the actual vong caste of workers. I assume they are born into this role and that is why they are larger and more subservient but is there anything else we know about them from a visual stand point?

Unfortunatly as with most vong depictions of them do not exist, or are very vauge (from the blurry book covers) so as said before alot of it is of the minds eye. There is a born caste of the workers, but I think they mostly come from what I mentioned above. To go in to more detail, I think of them as kind of zombie like, (not fleshless) but brain dead with a dull grey musk over them. The implants are numberous tumors sticking out from their bodys, the largest probably the size of your computer monitor, as they were to keep slaves/workers in line, but not interfear with their work abilities. They also (in my eyes) are all over the body, many small and large and everywhere. Jacen had one implanted in his eye lid, so no where is safe.
If this is how much research your doing for a custom im really excited to see what it doing to look like if your going for this much detail.

Heh, It's like you said, the descriptions available to me are just so vague. This discussion has been so so helpful to me. I'll let you all know how the customs turn out.

A World brain would be Colossal, so a Yammosk should be Gargantuan; but then again so should a Rancor. Thank Wizards for that.

Hey guys, Had a stab at concepting a yammosk mini based on the info you've provided (pictured below). Please let me know what you think! The idea is that the base of the huge mini is the surface of a pool. The Yammosk is breaching the top of the surface with just it's face and the majority of the creature is below floor/ground. All comments are welcome! One other question... and SPOILER ALERT ahead. Did anyone read the book where Luke captures one of these things? How did that go down? I'm having a hard time imagining capturing one with a harpoon. Was it smaller? Did it survive?

I'd maybe even raise the face out a little so there is more to look at. Fudge the physics of it a little. Will you have the 'Mouth' tentacles spilling out? I'm going to make this bad boy too if you dont mind, I love the concept! The art work is great, are you an illustrator in your spare time?

Thanks for the positive comments. I like the suggestion to raise the face up a little more. I probably would make the tentacles receed back into the "nutrient liquid" rather than spilling out... I wanted it to seem like the yammosk is surfacing but not trying to climb right out.
Absolutely try making this if your up to it! I'm glad you like the design. I don't do too much drawing and illustrating these days but I used to a lot in high school. I work as a 3D environment artist at the Capcom Game Studio in Vancouver.
