This is getting really good. One piece of (hopefully constructive) criticism: I might cut down the length of the razor worm sequence by a bit.

I thought that too, its half of the book at this point but let me ask you a few questions before I change it. Having read of 30 star wars books I know many of the times it goes like this
Out of the 19 vong books almost ALL of them followed this format, as well as almost all of them being almost exactly 300 pages lol
Pg 1-100 Set up
Pg 101-200 Beginning of conflict
Pg 201-300 Huge climactic battle
But another thing I have read about being an author is you do what you want. There is no way that any book has to be so I feel the long section in the begging is justified.
*Why should it be shortened?
*Is it to much to take in?
*What parts need to be taken out?

Well, in fairness, many fans hated the Vong books for their poor wiritng.
I don't know, maybe cut down the sequence immediately after Jax gets rescued by Taxton.
