Thanks. Can't figure out the issue... locks up after only 5-10 minutes and it's driving me nuts, lol. I hope it's not hardware and a reinstall will take care of it.

It's too late for this week's contest but may I suggest something for next week? I'd like to see participants respond in kind when other participants comment on their entry. Comments are typically constructive and therefore lead to a better custom. This input should be reciprocated. I'm not asking for a rule on the matter as schedules are what they are and each of us can get quite busy. I'm suggesting a "gentleman's agreement" to comment on the entry of each person who leaves a comment on your entry. Thoughts?

I’m going with an 8.5 for this. Like the idea, but synergy turned me off on this one, I agree she should get a bonus off of Palps but I didn’t like the idea of being tethered by 6 squares.

Mara Jade, Dark Side Adept Robobob
10 for this, lovely flavour in this one. Cost kept down to remain very useful. CA, FP, PT are a very good mix on her. Would have to be played very well to get the best out of her, Op CE could crown her or cripple her, either way she’d be wasted in on one of my teams :S a very nice piece.

9.5 I like where this one takes you. I think Stable footing over Force Jump would have helped lower the cost, not sure though?

9 for this, cheap and effective. I’m sure Mara would take offense to that but…she is. Nice though, open to a lot of boosts.

9 for this. Very busy piece like AnyHattons. Final shot is spot on with this. Patient went through the creative process here, I like what you came up with in the end. Could be very dangerous with the right squad!

9.5 This was very close to my original idea. Again keeping simple, but deadly, Sneak’n and kill’n, the whole Assin package.

For all that I love Robos,I would not do the piece any justice if used.

Blaster is not my ability, it is a WotC/V-set ability, and I took the wording straight from Ben Skywalker.

Lol no problem, I knew I'd have missed something.Confused I must have overlooked it Blushing I don't think you would have had a problem, it doesn't stack but i can see your concern.

Here are my thoughts and scores for this week's entries.

harryg's Mara Jade, Palapatine's Pawn:
This is a very solid piece. I like the inclusion of Mettle and the Synergy fits the theme of this piece. My main critique is the strong similarity to Arica. This piece seems like Arica just slightly dialed up. This is a great idea for a Mara Jade, I just feel she is too similar. In that light, I'm not sure she's worth the extra points. 8.5

Lord Balls's Mara Jade, Agent of the Empire:
First off, great subtitle! The suite of abilities and Force powers are quite fitting for an assassin so kudos. They also work well together. My concern here is the substantial damage output potential. She can hit unassisted for 80 damage at range. Throw in Thrawn's swap and Opportunist and she can lay down 100 damage from anywhere on the map, 120 if adjacent. Combined with HoE's ability to allow her to reroll the Dispassionate Killer save, I feel the 26 point cost is just too aggressive. At a proper cost, this piece would be fantastic! 8.75

AndyHatton's Mara Jade, Imperial Assassin:
Rival certainly limits some squad building options. To me, this has a similar feel to Mara Jade, Jedi. That's a good thing and you've managed to accomplish this without it being a carbon copy of that piece. 9

CerousMutor's Mara Jade, Imperial Servant:
You've put together a very appropriate and usable suite of abilities that really capture her assassin role. I'm ambivelent about the CE except that it gives her acces to Tarkin's CE. 9.5

FlyingArrow's Mara Jade, Infiltrator:
I really dig the creativity of this piece. Infiltration and Security Breach bring an interesting placement dynamic and they are each done in a way that fits the character. Patient is an intriguing way to bring anti-activation control to the game. I'm not sure on the escalation of Force Leap, but the rest looks great. 9.5

Deathwielded's Mara Jade, Expert:
Loner is a nice include that I'm surprised more entries didn't include. I'd prefer to see the standard Lightsaber ability instead of a new version by the same name. Override is a bold choice on a character of her resilience. Emperor's Hand is more detriment than benefit, removing access to Thrawn's CE and adding the potential for Internal Strife. 9.25

Robobob's Mara Jade, Dark Side Adept:
Pilot is nice to see here and your decision to go with Double Attack instead of Twin prevents any potential abusive synergies where damage output is concerned. Con Artist is also great to see and though not an obvious choice it is fitting. Forward Positioning is much the same and a unique one-shot movement breaker. Priority Targets is another unique creation and I like that you tied Force renewal to her ability to finish her targets. Her output is light, but at 25 points it seems reasonable. 9.5

This might be, from my humble perspective, the tightest group of entries to date. I can imagine myself fielding any one of the entries, even those I feel need tweaking in their current state. That being said, CerousMutor's entry narrowly gets my vote. She has solid damage output with Twin, Blaster Barrage and Assassin and she becomes deadly with Thrawn and Tarkin. She would pair so well with Carnor Jax that I want to go build that squad right now.

Very decent representation, but a bit too all inclusive, for me she's a bit too expensive (not overcosted, just takes up too much of the squad - her and palps is almost half the squad)

My only issue is really with security breach, not sure how I feel about it honestly.

This one is a tough one, as the abilities are good, and she's going to be very dependant on HotE, her low stats for a somewhat high cost make her somewhat of a niche piece (which isn't exactly a bad thing), makes it harder to determine if she's overpowered with boosts or underpowered regardless (or just right).

Deathwielded 7.5
Same issue as Andy really - offers a lot, but too big of an investment for my taste

Robobob 8
Would've liked a bit more reason to play palps with her, but she is the independent type as well so decent regardless, just not sure she offers enough to not just spend 6 more points on arica.

Cerous gets my vote

Mara Jade, Palpatine's Pawn by harryg: A nice Arica alternative which you trade a few different abilities here and there. The built in Opportunist is nice as it make you look at GA Thrawn instead of IE Thrawn. Though I wish she started with 3 FP. 8

Mara Jade, Agent of the Empire by Lord_Ball a nice semi-disposable assassin 8.5

Mara Jade, Imperial Servant by CerousMutor A Commander Jade is different and nice, lots of really cool flavorful abilities we haven't seen before, still a great attack. 9.5

Mara Jade, Infiltrator by FlyingArrow some interesting abilities that work well if you can get Jade over to other side of the map, but even with Leap, Patient, and Swap I don't think she will last very long out there. But that one big Commander Killing Final Shot could be huge and she isn't a big investment for some cool abilities. 9

Mara Jade, Emperor's Assassin by saber1 fits so nicely into the spectrum of Jades he have with great assassination potential and some really solid (if spikey) damage output, while being both mobile and difficult to position thanks to Final Shot (swap always helps) 10

Mara Jade, Expert by deathwielded Expert Sniper+Deadeye+Cloaked is a really nice combo but I think Emperor's Hand might have too much going on in it, it just feels like it does one too many things, not that they are bad abilities, quite the opposite, I like them a lot; just that it is it a lot to take in in one ability. 9

Mara Jade, Dark Side Adept by Robobob some more great stuff Forward Positioning is ideal for an Assassin, and I like Priority Targets, though I preferred the other Danger Sense and Force Accuracy, it gave her options 9


I know I say this everytime but lots of awesome entries! All were really flavorful and very consistent. Hard for me to pick but this week I'm going with saber1

harryg's Mara Jade, Palpatine's Pawn: Very similar to Arica The difference is that this version starts out with Opportunist and has Evade. More balanced now then it was originally, not sure if I would pick this version over Arica. 8
Lord_Ball's Mara Jade, Agent of the Empire: Surprise Attack and Dispassionate Killer are great on her, glad to see she's packing a Lightsaber!ThumpUp She would have great Synergy with Palps and could be interesting in a Daala squad...9

CerousMutor's Mara Jade, Imperial Servant: Not sure how I feel about Anticipation on her and I don't think master Slicer works the best on this version of her. (no stealth or cloaked) However the rest is great! Glad to see Programmed Target get used and I would use this version instead of Arica IMO. Finally the CE is new and unique in this weeks contest, I think since it is limited to Stormtroopers it is balanced and I'm breathing a sigh of relief that she doesn't work under Daala. 9.5
FlyingArrow's Mara Jade, Infiltrator: I like how you are trying to work out an anti-activation control SA and I like the Master Slicer/Cloaked combo and Knight Speed all help get her to the endzone for her other SA's. I think you would have been fine if you used Leap instead of creating Leap 3. Final Shot is good on her and helps her deal out some damage. I did want to see another bonus for getting to the enemies starting zone, but Security Breach is to strong IMO I would have added a + something (+6?) to initiative that ignores a 1 to get the same effect that you want (negating MTB) I am afraid it would make a Daala Squad to strong, since she would basically give a stronger version of MT. (not that it trumps MT) Still a very interesting character 9
saber1's Mara Jade, Emperor's Assassin:Very mobile and with cloaked (via Force power) she could be hard to catch and pin her down (especially with acrobat) A very strong assassin easy to take out single targets (with 90 HP) I just wish I would have seen something to represent a Lightsaber... 10
Robobob's Mara Jade, Dark Side Adept: Very different flavor than all the other versions and I think very well executed. Forward Positioning and Con Artist are perfect for her your version also was the first with Pilot and the only one that Pilot feels natural on. Priority Targets so she isn't completely dependent on Palps and is great Flavor wise since rarely was Jade anywhere near the Emperor, (different systems) but still pulled power from him. (which is why I love PT on her) A lightsaber, Yay!Woot I like how she can get Evade and GMA via Pilot which works with Double. I like Focused Attack better than Force Accuracy, but I kinda miss the other Danger Sense power...Crying I guess it gives her some bodyguarding ability. Very Versatile this version could see it's self in many different squad types. (Daala, Pilots, Ect) 10

My Vote goes to Robobob though Saber1 is a very close 2nd.

Sounds like a good idea. Yeah I'm not going to make it a rule, but I do think we should let the other entries know our opinions BEFORE we vote. If you had a problem with a SA why wait to give me a lesser score? We could've fixed it before hand.

(Except the real version is worded in a rules-precise way.)
