I'm 26 and from the UK. Been playing minis since the middle of 2009. I returned from living in Germany having vaguely heard of the game, and having collected a few Star Wars Pocketmodels. My brother mentioned that he had dabbled in a star wars miniatures game. Showed me and I was hooked. My ebay spending sky-rocketted and for about 2 years I was massively into the game. I haven't played very much at all in the past two years due to my work load in my final year of university and then my job search that removed my desire to play games until I found gainful employment.
The high point of my Star Wars Miniatures life was competing in Gencon last year. My issue is that I can count the number of people I know who play SWM in the UK on one hand. Vassal is great, but I still like my minis.
I currently live in the Czech Republic and have no miniatures with me here. Weirdly enough writing this is quite emotional. I loved this game, and it makes me sad that I have fallen away from it. My intention is to return to the UK at some point, join a regular gaming group and start converting people.

Minis are few and far between in the UK, but the players are harder to find than a sealed box of Bounty Hunters!

There seems to be a list of usual suspects on this website and I was wondering are you 20, 30 or 40 years old? Maybe older? Maybe younger? I assume most of us are guys, but I could be wrong. No pressure if you don't want to participate.
A poll would be cool. I see them up here often, but don't know how to create one. If you wanted to create a poll, click "Edit" on your first post that started the thread. There, you should see on the left a "create poll" button. Once you click on that then there will be 10 slots that appear. One for the poll title, and 9 for your poll categories. So for this poll; age, you would put: below 10, 10-20, 20-30, 30-40, etc. or whatever you want. As for me, I have been playing for about 4 years ever since I was able to buy booster packs for only $4.00 (I know I was sooooooo lucky). However, I just bought them because they were Star Wars and I didn't realize what I had at first, then I realized what I had and started to create a play group out of my other friends that were Star Wars fans. Since then I am no longer able to buy boosters for so cheap, but I am still buying from ebay and I really appreciate the V-sets. I have actually been using Bloomilk for longer than my account info says. I was using someone else's account but just using it to make customs. But, I finally got my own account. What I like about this game is that there are so many ways to play it and it is so customize-able. You can play skirmishes, Dynamic Duos, Role-play, or Custom Campaign (one of my favorite ways to play). The cool thing about it is that it is a real Star Wars fan's dream game. It goes beyond the movies and takes characters from all over the EU, which is AWESOME!!!!!!!

I am 38 and live in Indiana and got into the game through a freind ACE ACE/ Mike Giles and have been playing for about 4 years now. Have always been a huge Star Wars fan and am really glad that I let Mike talk me into giving the game a chance. I have met several great people and hope to continue playing this game we all love for many years to come, as I am trying to train young jedi in the form of my son and daughter, and also anyone else who I think might be interested. I even got my mother to play a few games.

36, Pastor. Married for 13 years to an amazing twi'lek, with 4 padawans, a kath hound, and a ysalamiri (cat).
I started in the fall of 2005, during the long wait between UH and CotF. The Timothy Zahn novels had reignited my interest in Star Wars, and so I was looking online for a way to play SW as an RPG (I had played D&D for years beforehand). I came across WotC's stuff and thought it looked cool, so I bought a RS starter and booster (pulled Bossk). I happened to read the SWM rulebook; after that, all it took to hook me on the game forever was playing a few games against myself. Fun, easy, exciting, challenging...the whole game was amazing. I quickly discovered Vassal, and joined Chimaera's 200pt Vassal League, where I placed 5th (first tournament for me ever, and CS Zam Wesell was my prize). I've met a lot of really cool people on Vassal and in person over the years. In 2008 I attended Gencon for the first time, just hoping to win more games than I lost, and I got lucky enough to make it all the way to the Championship finals with Boba BH and Han RH (I lost to Bill). Then last year I managed to finally win the Championship with Mace and GOWK. Since then I've continued to be involved in just about anything I can. I've never really had a local group, so Vassal has been my SWM outlet; I serve as "the Vassal guy," who updates the Vassal files with each new V-Set and map that gets released. I've also done my share of help with the V-Sets in various ways too.

Thanks to everyone who has responded. It's really great to connect a little more with people who all share in the same love of SWM. And for those of you who haven't responded yet....come on man!

I am a 52 (53 in another 46 days) year old UPS driver from central Pa. I've been playing since '05, and have been to 4 GenCons. While I have no desire to design Vsets, I appreciate those who do and do what I can to support our community in general. I am currently the host of Sith Holonews Network. (which broadcasts in 8 minutes)
I am married (30 years) with 3 kids...24, 22, and 12. My 22 year old son Kris plays the game when he's not attending Liberty University.

I'm probably one of the youngest guys playing minituares at 14. Believe it or not, my 6th grade English teacher was actually the guy who got me started. Apparently some kids had played it before me, and he had gotten into the game buying packs in eBay and has an amazing collection(one I'm very jealous of). I started playing in 6th grade, when packs were $4 at Target.
I probably got the best luck ever in my first pack, a GaW pack. You already guessed- a Cad Bane my first pack. Unfortunately, one of my friends tricked me into trading it for a tonight of old Darth Vader's, but I eventually got it back after he pulled a second one in a pack. Ever since, I have loved playing the game with my friends, but have never really gone to any big events.
But I can also feel with the guys without a play group since I now don't really play SWM much except through the Vassak Campaigns we have been having lately.
Love you Bloo Milk:)

My mom also never really played any good games, chess included. She says she will wait to learn how to play chess from a less experienced player. (that was ten years ago)

Klecser was a screen name of a guy who played this game and was a teacher. Can't remember his actual name now, he was a big vong player.

Tim, 34, Actor (aka waiter)
Been playing since Fingersandteeth (Deri) was my roommate, bought some minis to sub in pieces for Epic Duels (Board game by Hasbro). Then he said, "Hey, this is actually a game too - we should try and play it" . . . The rest is history

16, and live in New Jersey. Gungan Batman Clone and Joseph Blob got me into the game (which at the time they weren't serious about playing. I was the one who became obsessed first). Got Almost all of Imperial Entanglements from $4 boosters at Target and good ebay deals. pegolego wrote:Gungan Batman Clone wrote:gholli69 wrote: I even got my mother to play a few games.

Gungan Batman Clones mom just starts cracking up when she hears comments like "Ok, so Kota is going to blow up in your face killing Luke the twileck, and then Ani Stap is gonna mow over these people and do 30 damage twice!" She thinks it's rather sadistic.
