Scott's issue i think is with the granting of Con Artist to Jareal and reinforcements and thus when to choose the CE's.

Camaraderie isn't well defined as to when that happens, but because con artist occurs when you choose reinforcements it has to occur prior to this.

So as soon as you add a camaraderie character, its effect is immediate i.e. as soon as you reveal your squad.

What this means is that the imps can bring in a piece that grants Camaraderie and then swap him out with Palleaon, keeping the Cameraderie effect even if the figure is no longer on the squad. However, it seems that this effect would happen regardless of the timing of con artist/camaraderie because of how the camaraderie is persistent after a character death.

No... Pellaeon's CE treats the removed character as having never been in the squad, otherwise you couldn't use a different version of the same character.

Same thing with Versatility - if you swap Han Rebel General out, you don't get to keep the Camaraderie unless you choose that SA for the new character. I'm pretty sure Scott has stated this, though I don't remember exactly where.

I guess this is the Errata that Scott is talking about then, because the timing isn't consistent.

With Marn, the camaraderie has activated upon reveal.

With Palleaon and versatility the effects are delayed until after set up.

I guess these are just things to remember for now until its solidified.

I think a better way to think about it is that you get the Camaraderie bonus for being "in the squad" even if you are defeated. But you don't get the bonus if the character with Camaraderie is not "in the squad". Defeated characters still count as being in the squad. Characters removed via Pellaeon/Versatility do not count as being "in the squad". So you can think of the characters as gaining their Camaraderie bonus right away, but if you remove the character via Versatility/Pellaeon you lose the bonus.

Analogous to commander effects...

CE: You gain the bonus as long as the commander is on the board. You lose the bonus when the commander is defeated.

Camaraderie:
You gain the bonus as long as the character is in the squad. You lose the bonus if the character leaves the squad. (Defeated characters still count as "in the squad". Versatility/Pellaeon/Betrayal = not in the squad.)

yes, i think that's good. Just a shift in interpretation rather than a re-write.
