Seriously though it sucks that a lot of the EU is gone but I'm glad they are actually changing some of it. Anything post Thrawn trilogy is pretty suspect, anything having to do with Vong can be gone and I won't miss it at all. As far as how this will effect our game, I see no reason to change up too much about how we've been doing stuff. If people still like and want new characters from the old EU then we will still do stats for them. We will probably also do stats for the new stuff (who is that black Stormtrooper?! I have to know!!). So this probably won't effect us here.
As I told my wife losing the EU sucks, but it's not gone as long as we find a way to remember it. I think that's Star Trek but it works.
Yes it could be argued that the whole universe got away on a kilter that really departed too far from the original (Vong), or tried too hard and ended up not making sense (here's looking at you Fate of the Jedi series) so I'm not too upset on ditching some of it. In my opinion they should have never killed Chewie...wrong, just wrong, - either let them all live forever or wipe them out all together but don't take them one at a time...However I would like them to have kept Han/Leia and Luke/Mara's kids or even the New Jedi Order Jedis.
But from the trailer the flavour of the new direction doesn't seem any more appealing, just another "dark lord turns up" plot and too many Stormtroopers still hanging around. It could just be one big major disappointment, which would mean that I could go to my grave now happy with the old universe I know so well
