Once again, some really good pieces.

My top 3 are:

3rd donny It's a very good piece. However, I don't think the Vong needs any more help. LOL Yu'shaa helps them out enough

2nd jak Great piece. I think it would be better stand alone to benefit the Wampas, but I do like the piece. The only thing keeping it out of first is that I would think it to be better as a stand alone commander.

1st Lafcadio Awesome piece!! IMO, hands down the subfaction that needs the most help for non-unique characters. Great job!!

1st - Lafcadio - I think you did a very nice job of beefing up the GA pieces. I also like the option of giving twin to pieces like Ben Skywalker, Jedi and Colonel Jacen Solo making them total monsters

2nd Surf - I like the range it has. It covers a lot of current and possible furture pieces. I'd pair him with a pile Duros Scoundrels, Bith BSV the cz scientist and Han Scoundrel. Han would be Double twin stealth evade cunning with accurate shot and jolt. not bad.

3rd Kamikaze - Cool that you are turning a group of pieces into a subfaction, then Camaraderie boosts them. clever piece.

Well, I like me some sub-factions, I usually stick to creating them within Fringe, but that’s just me. There are some interesting ideas here ….

Lafcadio - 967 Commando Squad Leader

Priced about right. Always a nice idea to give troopers a squad leader, but once you get past GA, Squad and Willing, which just extends his abilities to feed off others, what does he actually bring into the game himself? I’m not really sure why Relays here. I suppose a good squad leader does feed higher up orders on down. For himself, he’s got Bodyguard (not much D or HP to do much good in this high powered age, Stealth (Standard Commando) and Twin … and that’s where he may be too much. The CE gives others within 6 the ability to move up, but the rather wide ranging handout of Twin may be too much. Certain GA figures already have Double. Twin, Double And Intuition is a little too much ….

CorellianComedian - Senate Commando Strike Leader

I costed him at 29. I’m not sure of what to make of the CE; its customary to have Stealth when giving out SS to other followers who Also have stealth …

PS - You should have killed off Heavy Weapons CC; the card had room 


donnyrides - Yun-Shuno Priest

Costs about right; Props for even Thinking Up a new Vong; I always have a hell of a time finding a new idea for one. Never play Vong myself, but it seems ok. Not sure how much YV Hunter plus Extra is going to help a +1 Attack character, and doesn’t the Shamed ability Preclude him getting those abilities anyway???. Nice idea if you can get around that “Shamed” idea “cannot that alter his printed Attack or Damage rating.” I may steal the Priest idea and play with it at some point ….

My God spry, other than the 100 pt Epic piece … this guy is 61 points and you gave him everything And the kitchen sink … this guy could take on Yoda or Mace … which I don’t think he actually could do …. Acolytes could always use help, but this Dooku is just …. Too much.


Kamikaze13 - GenoHaradan Recruiter

Costed about right; I’m not sure I agree with the idea of Advanced Stealth. I suspect Force Sense would “see” you no matter the tech used. Like the GenoHaradan love otherwise.


Caedus - Nightsister Mother Talzin
I did a Mother Talzin and I can’t help comparing them; If nothing else, you gave her a CE and I didn’t. Duhhh!. I costed her at 43 myself. My biggest question is where does the Vongsense come in? She died Long before that era …..


jak – Kyrisa
I like the idea of you trying to create synergies with the Wampa’s. I don’t remember reading about any particular ability with a lightsaber however; Lightsaber Defense may have been above her. I costed her about 35. I agree with the guys, the Wampa riding is an interesting idea.


Everybody (including me) has some flaws, so as I try to explain to my players, sometimes its who makes the Fewest mistakes, errors, etc ....


3rd Place - Donny - Great idea, but the CE + Shameful contradiction just bugs me a tad ....

2nd Place - Kamikaze13 - The "Advanced Stealth" still bugs me but otherwise, nice ...

1st Place - CC - This could've almost been a three-way tie, but ultimately the Senate guys get less love than anybody else so there it is ....

Boba Fett, Mercenary Doesn't actually have Mercenary, so he doesn't get the commander effect.

Is there really that big a difference between 3 and 4? He has to spend 16 to get the -1 cost. Spend 48 without my guy you get 12 Thugs. Spend the same 48 including my guy, you get 10. If that's why you get him, you're wasting points.

It was more thematic that they had vong hunter. Shamed one is a tricky ability. It reads: This character ignores special abilities from Yuuzhan Vong allies that alter his printed Attack or Damage rating. This doesn't mean that they can't be given special abilities that can alter. However, I do have a typo. My Extolled ability should say attack and/or damage not attack and/or defense. maybe if I got some feedback, somebody would have helped me notice this...hint hint hint BigGrin
My ability was meant to allow something like Scarification +10, Shaper, Master Shaper, Camaraderie etc. to be used but you have to pick at the beginning of the game. It's meant to go over the limits of Shamed one from 1 source. It would make an alternate to the DL warriors and giving them stealth breaks the bond between Yu’shaa and Shamed ones by making an attractive nom-bomb alternate. OR you could strengthen the bond to Yu'shaa giving more attack power.

This is the discussion I was hoping would have come up earlier in the week BigGrin

But in a 200 point squad, you can have Nom, a Chevin, and 50 thugs. For a total of 1000 Self-Destruct damage against 1 character, more against tightly packed enemys.

And I think you missed that klats are at 4 points.

Jase is right. YIKES, I normally pay better attention to those sorts of things. That makes mine bad too as I give 3 point Shamed ones stealth. BUT, the vong worker that already exists costs 4 and has stealth built in. So for mine, they have to get a 17 point piece, then Nom for 34 (=51) Then 49 shamed ones. As opposed to Nom 34 and 41 Workers at 4 points a piece. At 41, with the pieces already in place what's 8 more....j/k

BUT having 41, nades +30 range 12 super stealth nom-bombs is a little wild.

See, this is what happens when you rewrite a 5-6 year old piece. The original was "Fringer, Outer Rim and Spacer" allies; I made tons of all of them. I looked at my old minimanager when looking up Fringers, Scoundrels and Thugs and only remembered Red Hand because of the contest character .... I need to rewrite that one Again RollEyes

CorellianComedian: I like it! He's nice and simple in regards to the number of abilities, but the ones you gave him are perfect! I like the "further away than 6 squares" CE! That would be very useful! And then another thumbs up for the 30 damage! That's awesome!

donnyrides: Whoa! that's cool! I haven't used Yuuzhan Vong very much, but this makes me want to more! Good CEs! And I LOVE "Extolled"!!!

Spryguy1981: WOW! That's awesome! Good fighting abilities and force powers. I like the Synergy/Rapport! And then good CEs. I like the "In range of allies' CEs"!!!

Kamikaze13: Nice! Good stats/attack abilities. HO!!! I LOVE THE CAMARADERIE ABILITY! I just noticed that now as I was writing this! I've never encountered "Advanced Stealth Unit" before! I love the flavor of this guy - how he bolsters the "Assassin" feel of his allies! (I know that was the point, but a solid thumbs up for your execution of it.)

Caedus: Very cool! Nightsisters are another thing I haven't used all that often, so I'm probably not able to fully appreciate what your piece does for them... Very good stats/abilities. This would be very useful against Yuuzhan Vong!

jak: WOW! This is great! I've never heard of the character before, but I feel like I know everything about her that I need to just from looking at this piece! The abilities tell it all! Man! I seriously want to go make a squad with this character/Wampas now! GREAT boost for the wampas!

Surf_Rider56: This guy is cool! I love the boost he gives the fringers, and his +2/+2 CE makes him totally worth bringing into almost any fringe squad! And the low cost just makes him that much more worth it!

My votes are:

1st (3pts): Jak It's just too good! Talk about flavor burst!

2nd (2pts): Kamikaze13 I love his Assassin boosts!

3rd (1pt): Surf_Rider56 His boosts for "Fringers" are great, and then the +2/+2 CE to all non-unique fringe characters is an awesome bonus!

Hmmm... I may have to just do rankings this time, we'll see.

1st: Spryguy1981 with Darth Tyranus, Acolyte Leader - Nice beatstick, helps out a weak piece with a nice discount and handing out some nice abilities. And it's a minor detail, but I like the Synergy - you went for the unconventional version but kept the appropriate wording.

2nd: jak with Kyrisa - This whole time, I've been thinking she was really overcosted, but I kept forgetting the Rapport FIVE. That's one of my favorite ways to help old pieces (although it's hard to do right): give it a couple of boosts, and then put it on the 40% off clearance rack. The accessibility of a wampa horde - combined with the fact, as I mentioned before, that you can use the Wampas as beasts of burden - was what made my decision between 2nd and 3rd.

3rd: Lafcadio with 967 Commando Squad Leader - Nice set of stats and abilities. Very flavorful, CE is excellent - you can really wreck havoc with Colonel Jacen Solo (Double/Twin/Sith Rage 2), but I think it should be fine as it'll be difficult for the Squad Leader to keep up with Jacen.

Great job guys! Subfaction awesomeness for the win!

Oh, and quick side-note about Heavy Weapon: the guards really do need to lose Heavy Weapon (and if Surf Rider says I've got room on the card, then that's a pretty good indication that I really do have plenty of room BigGrin) but at the same time, my main focus was the Commandos - the full-robed Guards aren't really going to be working much with the leader of a Commando unit. So I thought I'd let them tag along on the CE, but helping the Commandos was most important to me. But thanks for the feedback!
