CorellianComedian wrote:Okay, another entry here. http://www.bloomilk.com/Custom/25638/clone-commander-thornI went with Double/Twin instead of Quadruple so he could have a bit more interesting mobile damage output without having to go full GMA, but I might change it to Quadruple just because it's so much cooler. He is a commander, but the main focus is the man himself - if you can damage him properly and then keep him alive, he's got the potential for 120 damage per round. Plus a nice boost for the Coruscant Guards (although come to think of it, maybe they don't need 29 Defense in cover... but on the other hand, Stormtroopers with Missile launchers can get up to 34). 120 Damage is quite a bit for a sub-40s piece, but Dash Rendar, Renegade Smuggler (with just Talon Kardde for support) can do it on the move, at full health, and has Evade. Thorn has to stand still and be half-dead, so most of the time he's just at 80 - which is equal to Rex, but again, Rex can do it on the move. All that said, you all know how I'm a fan of aggressively costing pieces. Any comments welcome. (And for the record, when I finished typing this, I decided to change it to Quadruple anyways) So, CC, are you going with the splatter effect, throwing guys up against the wall to see which one sticks?? Can't wait to see the next one On a more serious note, costed this one at 28. I'm sure you'll let us know which one's The One when its time ...

@Surf
Between your two I think I like the Riot Trooper better, but I have a couple questions. Riot Trooper: would adding Melee really make him cost the same as a normal Clone trooper? Ordnance Specialist: He has Rigged Detonators but nothing to detonate (unless I'm blind).
And about my Jugger... Yeah, it ended up a bit more powerful than the AT-AT. Should probably be closer to 250.

Regarding Riot Boy; the mere fact that a piece has melee is roughly -3 in cost; its the Rest of his aggregate abilities that push him up to 9. The Rigged Detonators are themselves explosives. They act like mines.

Another group of thoughts .... >Jase< - Kam's right in that Mobile + Scout is weird with spotter, but otherwise ... costed about right and since the Imp's have Scouts, why not? Kamikaze13 - What can I say, It's a Monster and unless you're playing 1000 pt games not sure what to do with this guy; mine was an intellectual exercise at best CC - Your Thorn is costed right, and I seem to be the only one who cares so I won't beat a dead horse, but he's another commander so ..... Lafcadio - Hard to cost with 3 custom abilities; my best guess 22-27 so 25 is acceptable. My question would be since he costs like a commander, what does he bring to the table that's worthwhile and is it worth 25? spryguy - Costed him at 17; Beware, he's a sniper without sniper ... and if you add sniper he jumps to 21 unless you take out something.

@surf: I really like your cards! The riot control guy looks awesome. I'm not sure, but I think Energy Shield might be a little bit much on a 9-pt. piece (did I just cost something higher than you??? ). The only pieces to have Energy Shield are 18 and 19 pts - they do have a little more going on, but not necessarily 10 points more (particularly for the Gungan). I'd kinda like to see Jolt instead of Stun Baton, (although saying "Stun Baton" sounds a lot cooler than saying "Jolt") - I'm curious as to why the trooper would choose between hitting an opponent and stunning them. All in all, I really like the piece, but I'm just kinda concerned about 9-point Energy Shields - it seems like at that price, they'd be an automatic throw-in for every squad. But definitely a cool piece. The Ordnance Specialist is great as well. I was really concerned about Ordnance Expert being broken until I noticed the "Non-Unique" qualifier - very nice touch. I feel like for his cost, it wouldn't hurt him to have Grenades 10 or Prox Mines or something, but he's a really well-made piece. Right now, I think I'd vote for your Ordnance Specialist over your Riot Trooper based on my costing opinions, but at the same time I like the Riot Trooper himself more...

But here he is! I finally made a non-Unique/non-Commander! Probably staying with Thorn, I'll let you guys know in the morning.

I made a Shock Trooper once, but he was more offensive than yours (more like a Storm Commando) but I notice you're heading towards the Coruscant Gurads ... hmmmm Regards my cards; the Gungan was slightly overcosted (I would've given him a 15, not 18 and the Gungan has grenades, sorta. The Baton vs Jolt - Jolt is against attacks that hit, melee or ranged. The Baton is against adjacent enemies who fail their save.

Maybe I need coffee, I'm still not quite getting it - he's got melee attack anyways, so how could he shoot someone? What was the design thought-process behind giving him a separate non-damaging ability for the stun baton? Oh, and I'm going with Clone Commander Thorn http://www.bloomilk.com/Custom/25638/clone-commander-thorn

Maybe if I need to explain this I should go with the other clone ....

No, no, he's good. But Stun Baton says that it replaces attacks. That was throwing me off.

Ok, I can take a hint (despite what I say to my wife) and since people have pointed out several things, I've rolled with it. After all, If I point out your warts, I can take it when mine are pointed out too. Both these have been modified .... Clone Trooper Ordnance Specialist Someone mentioned they didn't have mines and I said to myself I don't want to add an ability, but they're not quite as offensive as I wished. Answer: I removed Satchel and added Proximity Mines 20. Clone Riot Trooper I didn't like the wording on Stun Baton OR Shield; didn't like any of the current shield powers so created a new one; I'm happier with this, I think .... I'll decide which one I'll go for tomorrow morn.

spryguy1981 wrote:4. Voting works as follows, pick your three favorite customs based on accuracy to the character, design, balance or whatever you decide makes the best incarnation of the challenge character. First place receives 3 points, 2nd place receives 2 points, and 3rd place receives 1 point.
6. To make things fair you must vote in order to win the contest. You must choose three characters entered in the contest and you may not rate or vote for your own character. Oh, I forgot it was three, not two. In that case I cast my votes for the previously mentioned two and the Clone Trooper Ordnance Specialist.
