He wasn't even that great back then. Yes, he was popular, but still easy to beat.

Boba BH was awesome back in 2007-08, but how many top squads at Gencon included him last year? He's not even the best Boba anymore, Merc is by far the better piece IMO.

Not really disagreeing as much as adding to Sithborg's clarification. Even in 07-08 he was merely a "good" mini. But be fair, he was overcosted then as well. I know he was in the 2007 Championship squad, but there is more to winning one tournament than the use of one mini. You also have to understand the skill of the players, match ups, and the maplist at the time, as well as in some cases, really bad luck.

Boba BH has always been very popular, and in 07-08 he tended to show up in about 40% of all Championship Gencon squads. Are you then surprised that at that rate of play, he was present in 2/8 top 8 squads both years?

But you might be more surprised to learn that in the same time period, Han Scoundrel was present in 07 at 3-5% of squads, and in 08 about 8-10%, yet he made 2 appearances in the top 8 in 07, and 3 in 08.

Further, Boba Enforcer made the top 8 in 07, and Boba Merc made it in 08, and both were also played at about 3% of all squads played those years. In 2009, Boba was still played in about 20% of squads (SS was played in 25%), and 0 Boba BH's made the top 8.

In 2007 the Landspeeder took 2nd, and 12th, and if I remember correctly, only 3 were played that year. In 2009, I think only one person played it and he made the top 4.

Boba has never been that strong of a mini, he's more of a crutch for players who think using a powerful mini gives them a chance to beat better players (or often for those who actually think he's really good and don't know there is more to the game than the individual perceived power of a mini). But in competitive play, he's never been very good.

Trust me, in 07 when Boba was in the winning squad, it had little to do with Boba. The winning player was also using other top pieces like R2-AM and two JWMs. Those three minis were more important to his squad than Boba. There just weren't a ton of great alternatives to Boba at the time, but even then, many of us believed Boba was still overcosted in comparison to other options. Today, I think almost all top level players recognize there are better options almost all the time.

Dash and Rex are great, but let's see them get an 18 attack vs uniques... Boba BH with Old Rep is the best. Exile, Boba, TBSV, 2 battlemasters, mice, and yeah, it's all good. And now they get a Jedi Healer! I would love to fight a swarm squad with Boba BH/Tarpals/Swap. Boba shows up, flame thrower 20, twice, hits all adjacent. Doesn't even have to pull out his gun hahaha

4 shots at +12 on a 23 defense figure = 40dmg average

2 shots at +18 on a 23 defense figure = 32dmg average

And the first one costs 29pts less

I rest my case.

True, Boba BH is is very overcosted, but I think the "Holy Crap! hes's got Boba Fett Bounty!" factor makes him expensive.
You just look at Boba from RS....WTF!? 50 points? For what? Double? Flight? Accurate?
No thanks, I'll stick with BH, even if he doesn't Big D. He has other abilities that make excuses for his high cost, IMO.

I can't believe this! No body beats up on the Fett! Lets take a closer look at him, shall we?

For 62 kriffing points (only 62!)

Fett has 120 hit points (the highest non-Jedi total for 99 percent of the characters in the game)
A 20 Defense (a pretty decent one)
A plus 12 attack
And the standard 20 damage

He has flight, so you can fly away from all the kriffing Jedi.
He has accurate, so you can target whoever you see, which is priceless in some games.
He has Twin, so you have two chances a turn to kill disintegrate someone.
He has Bounty Hunter plus 6, and he doesn't miss uniques.
He has Disintegration, of course, so that Obi-dork, Luke ruler of the galaxy, Cad Bane, and all the other Hutt slimed favorites go down in the blink of an eye.
He has flamethrower, so groups are vulnerable.
With evade and mobile, he's hard to hit and stays alive longer than he would otherwise.

What's not to love!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!??!?!??!??????????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!

I voted him best with Imperials. OR seems to be a current fad, and its now having its spotlight. But you just can't go wrong with a black and blue squad that has that green mando armor. Face it. Opportunist makes him better. He can choose who he hits with accurate. Let's pull up the numbers. A +22 for 30 damage. Twice. That's 60 damage. Then he flies away so you can't return the favor. And when you do manage to roll that dreaded 1, Palpatine on Throne lets him reroll. Between rerolling failed evades and attacks (I have rerolled 1s into 20s more times than I can count), he is truly someone to be feared. Pair him with Vader, and you have an extremely tough nut to crack.
With the right stuff, he is far from overcosted. Just because he isn't studpidly undercosted like Bane, Obi, Grievous, and Luke doesn't mean we have to scoff at him because he costs right. He isn't a "good" mini. He's a kriffing awesome mini. I could go on and on and on and on, but I fear that no one would heed wisdom. Go ahead and play Cad, Obi, Dash, Luke, Han, and whoever. Just to scream and cry when they're vaped by a real mini.
