I played a Poggle/Drone with Muun Broker squad a few times on line, including once with Dnemiller, and I ran it that the Broker had to kill a piece, it blew up, and no chance for a save. The theory is that you HAVE to do the CE, so even if you saved, you'd have to do it over and over again until you didn't save because you HAVE to defeat a peace. The piece is defeated, so it blows up.
If there's no defeat, there's no BOOM.
So if you save your 16 with the Poggle roll, (Munn Broker withstanding) that drone doens't go boom.
He has to die to go boom and he has to go boom to satisfy the broker. So make sure your placement leaves one to the side, because you could start an entire chain reaction before the first initative is rolled.

Tactics broker jumps to step XIII (not XIV as stated earlier). (I should proof-read my own posts better). Defeat is triggered at step XII, and so should Leia and Poggle.
XII. Calculate and apply the total damage and/or resolve Disintegration (if it was not converted to damage previously), and determine if the character is defeated. Resolve Avoid Defeat or any other "when defeated" effects that can prevent defeat in this step.
XIII. Resolve any remaining "when defeated" effects such as Impulsive Shot, Impulsive Sweep, Self-Destruct, Cleave, Rolling Cleave, Mon Mothma's commander effect, and so on. Use the simultaneous effects rule as usual. As in previous steps, Impulsive Shot and Impulsive Sweep can begin new attack sequences that interrupt this sequence; resolve the new attack completely, then continue where you left off with the original attack.
XIV. Remove the defeated character from the battle grid.
Nickname, thanks for maintaining this reference.
