qvos wrote:Dude ... Max rebo band .. Thats is really really nice! Here's hoping for them showing up in a V-Set. I actually had an idea for bands I posted in the 2nd V-Set abilities and pieces you want. Basically them granting out a a musical bonus to friendly character OR a negative one to the opponent, something you decide on before the game starts and can't change. basic concept that sounded fun. a board wide CE of sorts. A "morale boost" if you would haha.

Very cool! How did you make Tott and Odan? Those are especially great.

Thanks for the comments Chad!!
Tott Doneeta is made with a Twi'Lek Scout head on a Githzerai body from D&D minis, the saber was from the MOTF Kit Fisto and I tried to give it that old style look. In the comics he isn't too colorful dressed in all black, I used some of the cover art as inspiration on making him somewhat more colorful than full black.
Odan-Urr was made with an Ultroloth head and hand, Death Slaad body from D&D, then a blue saber from Marasiah Fel and the cord is from a Mystril Shadow guard. the Box is from the Binoculars used by the same Twi'Lek i made Tott with. Gotta love recycling!!
His colors area blend of in comic and cover art as well, and also based on the clothing style as it differs slightly in the art. I left his pupils out because he looked cooler without it. Truth!

Very carefully cut pieces of blue spiral plastic from a Hasbro toy. I think it might have been from an Episode II figure originally but I am not fully sure.

We should probably do a big community write up for customs and make it a sticky. basic questions and answers with techniques too. I'll get around to that later on. A post I can update to keep all the information in there people submit. p.s. Thanks for the praise on the paint, I appreciate it.

Yes, I like the paintjobs; you're much more meticulous and refined than I've ever been. Been meaning to try your idea for Odan-Urr; maybe next weekend. Also been meaning to ask; when you made Max did you use the Hallmark ornament to make it? Thats what I used ... also made a card for it ... did anybody ever take your idea about iy seriously?

Thanks for the comments guys, it's nice to see them after shoveling snow on the driveway (more like pushing slush) lol
You lost me there at the end, what does IY stand for?
I'm not the most extreme of perfectionist, but I do try. It gets me in trouble a little bit sometimes when I mess up details. The worst was Odan Urr's eyes. I did them a few times before settling with what you see in the picture. I like the end result too, but it wasn't the original plan.
The Rebo Band is in fact the Hallmark ornaments. I heard someone talking abo... or rather saw someone talking about them on one of the forums a long while ago and I picked them up cheap to have for fun. Perhaps I can print off your card as well to accompany them hehe.
I would love to see another take on Odan Urr too, I love all that old school stuff.

I suspected it as such. Did the same thing myself. Print away ... Gwek thought it was silly, which is true, but I liked the "Don't shoot me .." line and thought it was a bit of whimsy thought Lucas himself would probably chuckle about. When you did Odan's mouth, did you cut off the lower part? That actually has been the point that I scratch my head on most ....

As far as the Band rules, I am not aware of anything like it for the V-sets or otherwise.
I straight popped Odans head off the other mini and glued it onto the new body. No true modification done, although I had considered giving him that armored piece he wears on his head in some of the art. I decided it would look silly and bulky and left it alone though. Plus I am not amazing with green stuff.
I have however sculpted parts for my first piece involving green stuff though, It is just waiting to be painted up now. I have been waiting to do it till there is a reveal on it from V-Set 3. In fact that is what a lot of my customs are waiting on right now. Most were works in progress already, but I figured I'd wait and let them help hype up the third set when the time comes. Some exciting stuff to be had in it for sure.
oh and soon I have to look at all your custom stats better, been real busy with work the last 2 weeks. long story short... my company is run by people who don't know how to do their own jobs.

I love your minis and have been using some of your ideas. Just started customizing my minis a few months ago, and it's somewhat of an addiction. There's just so many cool figs to make, I've found it nice to piggyback on some of the obviously perfect ideas of the artists on this forum, while coming up with a few fun ones of my own. I know this is an old post at this point, but would love to know what pieces were used for your Niles Ferrier and your Jorus C'baoth.

Good luck finding most people from back then; I may be the only one still around and I stopped making custom mini's years ago, but I seem to recall a Duros Scoundrel body & a Human Bodyguard head ....
