K'Kruhk's lack of Affinity for the New Republic doesn't bother me (especiallythe Dark Times version, which is clearly from a specific period), although I would have LIKED a NR version of him.
Your spot-on about the Affinity for Kazdan, though. I doubt he would have worked with the Rebels if offered an option. Heck, even though Shaak Ti deals with Organa, even HER Affinity for the Rebels is quite questionable in terms of accuracy.

I'm fine with Kazden and Shaak Ti, because they were resisting the Empire, so even if it's before the Alliance, they are still very much Rebels. I haven't read Dark Times, so I can't comment on Das Jennir, but I am guessing the same applies to him, Jax Pavan, and Ferus Olin.

So "The enemy of my enemy is part of my faction"?
Sorry, I just can't go there with you.
Also, it's been a little while since I read or played TFU, but are Shaak Ti and Kazdan really resisting the Empire? I'm not sure if Kazdan even realized the Empire exists!

Well, it's my impression they aren't being subtle, as Vader obviously has detailed enough reports to know who he is sending his apprentice after. My impressions was that Shaak Ti was organizing the Felucions and causing problems for the Imperials based there, at the least. Kazden was calling problems all over Raxus Prime, which had an Imperial presence.

It is difficult for both Shaak and Kaz to say they are Rebels. Because thier stand against the empire was short lived its deffinatly a push.
Shaak never got invted to join the rebels because she was dead before Bail got there, so id say she could not be rebel, maybe fringe because she was out on her own at that point.
And poor Kazdam was as fruity as a spice loaf, all he carred about was his droids and trying to rebuild the temple he fled from in fear during the purge. I'd say Kaz current mini is very close to being bang on, again maybe fringe. Then you have this balancing act with him if he was fringe! He'd be way to powerful! Him, Revan, Sion and cheap doids ouch!!

I think unfortunately we are talking about a tactical skirmish game. It is more like cowboys and indians. Someone has to be the cowboy and someone has to be the indian.
In cannon there are several instances where traditional enemies put away their hostilities for the greater good. When Han Solo is tracking Warlord Zinsj he strikes a bargain with the Imps so he can get his hands on a Intedictor. The Imps agree because they want Zinzj gone too. This again occurs during the Vong Invasion and forms the backbone of Galactic Allaince.
These things can also happen in good RPG session. But they just wont occur in minis. Every piece has to go somewhere. I think that is why Rob sometimes missed the boat. He put a mini that had no particular place in a faction. I think we got where he thought it should go because he designed the mini and knows where that character was in development. I just think it is part of the burden of design. I know in Rebels and Rouges there is a new Darth Zannah. I can guess it is not the 10 year old version originally known as Rain. But I am also not sure it is the Zannah that has fought Bane either. But those decisions are made by the designers and made to their vision just as Rob did it.
In many ways the RPG game surpasses the minis game for depth. It is just the nature of a skirmish game. I mean heck I would love to have some blue checkers but that isnt going to happen.

Every mini should be fringe. That would solve it.
