This is the kind of thing I think would be really great if each play group had one, but I doubt many individuals would get a lot of use out of it. I would try marketing it to the heads of play groups for 60$+, and then they could use it for mass battles. I would be interested in getting one for my play group, but I would also like a map that has some room for huges, like ATSTs, to roam freely about. But that's just my personal preference.

I have a few vinyl maps already. Cool
They are as durable as a laminated paper map, however vinyl maps are a lot heavier.Confused
a single sided vinyl map weighs 8.5 oz.
a double sided paper map weighs 2.5 oz.
the vinyl weighs more than 3 x as much as the paper.OMG
another factor to consider, is is possible/practical to print vinyl on 2 sides.
I haven't seen any 2 sided vinyl.
I would be hesitant to buy vinyl, for the preceding reasons.Unsure

I would love an epic vinyl map, but (as others have said) I don't have a table bigger than 3' by 6' (and I think this one would be over 7' long) and I am the leader of my play group. Nobody else buys maps, and only a couple of other people buy minis and books (RPG).

I assume it would be impossible (or not cost effective) to double side any map on vinyl, but I would still love a vinyl map and would pay up to 50 bucks depending on how awesome the map was. (for a 3' x 6' or smaller map)

Not that I don't care about the playability of SWM on my epic map, but it isn't the only factor (and might not even be the most important factor) if I were to buy it.

In conclusion, smaller map, awesome and multi-useful (RPG and Minis), one-sided is fine, $50 or less.

This map looks great! I would rather have 4 smaller maps rather than 1 large map. I would spend $20-30 on it.

Vinyl would have to be a one-sided print, because of issues with getting the front and backs to align the way they do on paper maps. There may also be issues with both sides not being equally fit for print.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but I printed a one-off of this quadruple-length map exactly as pictured for the Clone Wars Mass Battle at Gencon this year. Here's a shot of the game in progress:

The single-sheet vinyl map is 7'4" long (88") and 34" wide. It's quite heavy too, but it does lay flat nicely after being rolled.

After some research and discussions with Matt, I can definitely say the following about this potential product:
-it will be one sided
-it will be in standard 34x22" sections (and they're tile-able in every direction)
-higher printing costs means a higher price per map than you're used to. I can't say exactly yet, or even if it's worth doing.

Vinyl maps are a premium product and well deserve a premium price. Not as cheap as laminated double sided paper maps by a long shot. I would be will to pay in the range of $50-$100 per single map. And to invest in a giant map like this you have really want the map.

I'm sure we can also expect the production runs will be much smaller and these will be very limited edition.

3. How much would you be willing to pay for it? how much do you think is a faitr price?

1. LOVE it! Did it ever get produced?
2. YES! But I could deal with seperate rearrangable maps as well.
3. I'd pay $50-$60 for it. It looks like it could certainly be about the last map I'd ever need to purchase for any size game.
4. I'm just getting started in this game!

5. I'd REALLY like the other side to be a large HOTH battlemap. All the existing Hoth maps don't actually hit togther. :*(

I'd be more likely to buy a Hoth or Endor map for epic original trilogy fun than a Clone Wars map.

That said, the map presented looks pretty cool. $50 is probably the most I would be willing to pay, I appreciate that the costs production costs would put it up there, but more than $50 is hard to part with all at one go.

I would defiantly pay in the ballpark of $60 for a one piece vinyl map like that but only if i could draw on it with either wet erase or dry erase markers. A map in that scale printed on vinyl I would like to see is the deathstar with the Millennium Falcon.

This map is fantastic while it is a bit repetitive I think it is ok for a format like this. I agree with some people having a epic hoth map would be really cool as well. For X-wing I researched a double sided banner and while they do exist it is really two banners glued and sewn together making the price doubled regardless. I would love to have one of these for my collection.

1.: Yes, yes I do.
2.: Probably.
3.: I'm not really experienced with map prices.
4.: Lol. Not sure why that's so funny but it is.

2. Sure! Rearranging it isn't as important to me, I don't really know why.
3. I'd prefer it in the $40 range (or less, of course BigGrin ). However, that certainly might not be possible. I have no idea hw much vinyl costs. Probably 50$ would be the most I'd pay.
4. I'm not in a slump but this gave me a jolt of minis goodness! (Feel free to interpret that in any way you wish).

Ok, I'll be honest. I REALLY want this map. It would be absolutely perfect for my semi-diplomatic SWM mod that I love to play so much.
