thereisnotry defeats UrbanShmi 200-0 (3-0).
Laura's squad had a bunch of devastating CEs for her Acolytes, and if those CEs had all worked it would've been really interesting...however, those Acolytes are all melee attackers, and I had 2 tanky dudes with Distraction, and the result was that much of Laura's squad was nerfed before we even began. She did a pile of damage to Tulak (who still couldn't make a save), in part because I kept forgetting Doctrine of Fear. Nevertheless, during the 3rd Round, while Tulak was down to 30hp, Dooku and the Dark Acolyte Master and an Acolyte were eliminated, so she conceded. This was just a bad matchup for her, and there really wasn't a whole lot that could be done about it.
It's always good to game with Laura. Thanks for the game!
And thanks for running this event!

Ya, whenever good melee comes out it tends to be anti melee. Like Tarre. but at least it is Melee pieces that are designed that hurt other melee pieces! Tulak giving Distraction to another "melee beat stick" really will hurt separatist and Republic. but it will put a melee piece "in the discussion" imo and it has helped Sith. I do hope there are ways to make melee playable without hurting other melee. I was talking about this just the other day. But I think that as long as melee can be played it is a plus! Will it hurt Silri will her Melee Reach 2?

Mando defeats Timmerb123. Score was 210-6 after Tim conceded. 3ps for Mando, 0pts for Tim.
I won map roll so we played on Imperial garrison. Tim set up on the right.
Round 1 was positioning. No shooting. I got gambit and it was init.
Round 2 was me blowing up the door, Tims klat blasting my brave little specialist. I activate Plagueis, spending fp to move faster, and then chain lightning a large group of his shooters. Sidous dominates Plagueis again and he fails the save and spends his force points again to chain lightning. Game was pretty much over at that point, so Tim conceded. Was just about the worst matchup Tim's squad could face in this tournament. Damage reduction + dodge + chain lightning (could do it twice with Sidious) and Vader's tricks really was hard for Tim to face against. When I got a chain lightning off on about half his squad and then followed it up with Sidious dominating Plagueis again to do another lightning, it was pretty much game over and Tim conceded. Tim was a good sport about it. He has a really good squad! had i decided to switch my squad for rounds 3-4, i'd have been toast. This matchup for his NR pilots tho was just really difficult to go up against because this tanky sith squad is built to counter shooters and swarms.

Udorian over Gandalf 3 - 1
The Dance of Soresu was totally on and I took a full round of attacks without taking any damage. Gandalf's Squad had a lot of attacks and a lot of force points and played it well. The Republic jedi utilized ugnaught walls and porgs to bolster their defense. A mouse droid killed my holocron. Kneesa killed a Loth Cat (I thought that was very fitting).

FlyingArrow 212-81 over N3rdSl4y3r on Desert Marketplace. Sith on left.
N3 sniped an Ordnance Specialist and put damage on Fennec early on by shooting along the street below Storage. Near the end of round 3 or so, Barriss moved into the street below the storage room with Easy Path. She suffered damage from Resurrector, but then she ran into the fray. Caedus did his big trick with a double-SBM and that took a huge chunk of hp from Fenn, Fenn, and Shae. All together, it was 120dmg.
Top of the next round, Sith won init and Caedus was able to Aing-Tii to finish off all 3 of them. Fenn Shysa and Shae died from more Mines, but Fenn Rau survived them. Caedus finished him off with his own attacks. First activation, Barriss tried to get some attacks on Sabine before dying. She ran over to Sabine (away from Caedus to get her Loner bonus), but Barriss whiffed on both attacks. Barriss then died and Resurrector put some damage on Caedus. Ree-Yees ran as far as he could, and then Caedus took his turn. He emptied the Holocron's force points to SBM Resurrector and Sabine adjacent to Ree-Yees, who promptly blew up. Caedus then retreated back near the Nexus.
Amanoa, Fennec, and Caedus made their way into the gambit room. The Mandos kept plugging away at Caedus. He was down to 30hp, 0fp, and only 2fp left on the Nexus by the end. Amanoa (40hp), Fennec (40hp), Nexus (2fp), XT-6, and an Ordnance Specialist also survived for the Sith. Resurrector with 50hp was the only surviving Mando.
Even though the final score wasn't close, an early sequence in the game may have swung the result. N3 got a line of sight on an Ordnance Specialist. It survived 4 attacks from Fenn Shysa due to 4 straight successful Defender saves by Amanoa. If it died earlier, it would have left Fennec vulnerable to more shots. As it happened, Fennec lost half her life in that early volley (Fenn Rau and Shae also took turns on that shooting lane), landing at 40hp. If she had died (a likely result without those 4 straight saves), it may have swung the game entirely, since she played a big role in the final cleanup of Sabine and the Skull Squadron Officer at the end. Caedus and Amanoa might not have been able to finish it alone.

Spry beats Jason 3-0 220-78
I won map. It was a lot of beef with some defensive capabilities and huge damage potential and movement. I made a Garm CE save to set up a kill on Chewie. Jason then had to rush several non-Han and Dash guys forward to absorb some damage so that Han and Dash didn't eat it. Wicket killed an Uggie which forced Garm to move up and then effectively get wasted by a Twi'lek, once Garm was out of the way the remaining one was able to kill Han. 3rd round he killed another Twi'lek and the 3rd was down to 10HP but Meetra and Twi'lek finished off Dash and Klat for the win. As always it was a pleasure playing Jason.

Covenant defeats the Quarren-Droid alliance (Randy) 205-60 on Imperial Garrison
I set up on the left. Early in round 2, Riff Tamson charged in with an AQ Droid and hit the Protector for 40 damage. The Protector hit back with its own attack and a cannon shot, and Riff was not rolling hot- missed three Parries in a row needing nines, so with a crit the Protector killed him. After that, Randy's Quarrens and BD Hunters did not do great against the beef of Covenant in an all-out melee.

Mando defeats urbanjedi 230-100. 3pts for mando, 1pt for urbanjedi
i won map and we played on imperial garrison. Jason took left side.
round 1: lots of positioning. errly takes a shot at making Freedon Nadd go poof, but he luckily makes the save.
round 2: i win init and move Freedon away to where i thought he was safe, but i guess i should have read that the Erryl juth as to be within 6, no LOS required. so she tries to make him go poof again. he thankfully makes the save again and he is in the clear now. Plaguies takes out poor BB-8 when the door is blown. Vader does vader things and pawns some newbs with a dominant force grab, getting Han, Erryl to move positions and sets up a nice chain lightning from a force dominated Plagueis which hits 4 guys. Vader does lots of dodging but a few creep in and hit him. He is very tanky tho with built in dmg reduction, so he takes the hits and is still alive at end of the round with 90 hp but doesn't heal to 100hp because of disruptive.
round 3: plaguies does his lightning again, but this time only hitting 3 people. Vader gets critted 2 times by Han, but only 1 gets through after i fprr and sacrifice a pawn, so Vader is at 50 hp. Occhi gets a really nice tactical assault off and tries to hit jagg twice needing 5's. I roll a 3, use his fprr to get a 4 and then i sith pawn to roll.....a 3. next attack hits of course, but jagg is still alive and giving that much needed +4 attack to Jason's pilots. chewie dies, gives the noble sacrafice attack to Han who does 30 dmg to Vader (20 after DR 10). Han is killed by Vader and he retreats to safety. Occhi bites the bullet after Dash hits him 3 times and then Garm hits him. I run Vongrella up to base Garm and hope that when the Klat captn tries to hit her, it splashes and kills garm. Garm and klat both make the splash saves tho and Vongrella takes 30 dmg. end of round, Vader and Vongrella heal up and Plaguies is still sitting at full hp.
round 4: jason wins init, hits Vongrella and does fire at will with the Klat to do another 10 dmg. Vongrella is down to 10 hp. Plaguies comes in an zaps dash, garm and klat with chain lightning, taking the klat and garm out, and then i try and get vongrella to safety, but Jag finds her and finishes her off to get Jason to 100pts and the 1pt loss. Jason concedes as Dash is going to die quite easily to Sidious's burst lightning getting in that last 10 dmg.
good game and i definitely made a couple of errors to hand the 1pt loss to Jason. Occhi did amazing except for his failure to kill Jag, but the standout was Plagueis and his chain lightning. Really hard to go against that and also Sidious using force dominate to allow him to do it again.

thereisnotry defeats Udorian84 200-116 (3-1)
I won the map roll so we played on Desert Marketplace. Udorian set up on the left, then I set up on the right (with Tulak and the holocron beside the Nexus in the center room.
Round 1: Mostly positioning. Cognus used Force Suppression. Toward the end of the round R2 towed Caleb forward, and then Depa pushed Caleb (via Master) and then Caleb moved around the bottom of the center building to spend a FP to try to expel Exar. Exar failed the first save but made the fprr. I still had the Nexus and Tulak to go, so I used Easy Path on Tulak, and then activated to move him 6 and then Teleport adjacent to Caleb for an attack (w Rage) that turned into 2 attacks because of Jarkai. Caleb failed the LS Defense save, so he was at 10hp.
Round 2: In a last heroic attempt before dying, Caleb tried to dispel Exar again but Exar made his save. This was a huge turning point in the match, because the Dark Aura played a big role in how this match played out afterward. Tulak then used Sith Hatred to kill off Caleb and then move back into position with the rest of the squad. However, R2 then towed Depa up to where she could Assault my Imperial Agent, and didn't miss, so he died without doing anything. She took more damage from the Nexus than she did from lightsabers in this game! Cognus tried to attack her, but she kept making her saves (needing 15s!). AniObi came around the bottom to pick up the holocron and Force Push my XT-6 to death.
Round 3: Udorian won init again. Cognus used Surprise Attack to attack Depa, but he missed an attack and Depa blocked the one that hit. She brought Cognus down to 100 (LS Assault costed her 2 fp because of Suppression). AniObi leaped 12 squares to land behind Cognus and hit for 20dmg. Tulak Attacked Depa, but she made both saves.
Round 4: You guessed it, Udorian won init again! Depa tried to damage Cognus, but without enough FP to Assault she didn't do any damage (bad dice for him and Parry for me). I was finally able to kill off Depa this round, with the help of some Sith Guard attacks and the accumulation of PotDS damage. Exar's Dark Aura was my MVP this game. AniObi attacked Cognus 4 times and missed on 3 of them.
Round 5: I finally won an init, and Cognus did ZERO damage again! At this point it was getting comical, because Cognus couldn't do any damage but was causing a whole lot of trouble (Doctrine of Fear, Force Suppression, Exar's Dark Aura). Tulak put 30dmg on AniObi. Somewhere in here the Porgs start to breed, since my Sith Guards are picking off Udorian's fodder pieces.
Round 6: Udorian won init, and AniObi made their PotDS save (with a Porg's help) and so they had enough FP to Leap over my people and attack my Ugnaught in gambit. That brought Udorian to 81 points after Gambit that round. Tulak moves up to put some more damage on AniObi, teleporting to block the door so that they can't escape the room. I ran my Sith Recruit up to base AniObi on the other side.
Round 7: Udorian (with his pseudo-Master-Tactician ability) won init again, but didn't dare attack Tulak (Sith Reflexes) nor my Sith Recruit (SD10) so he did nothing. I tried to pile on the damage, but he stayed alive with 20hp thanks to Porgs and bad dice for me. The Nexus died this round, which brought Udorian to 99pts, and then 109 after gambit.
Round 8: Udorian won init and tried to attack Cognus, but once again couldn't roll very well: 2 of his 4 attacks landed, but one was parried after a fprr, and the other was made after a Recruit sacrifice (bringing AniObi to 10hp). Tulak then activated and used Rage to finally bring down the Dynamic Duo.
As always, it was fun to play with Udorian! This was a crazy match...that Nexus must've done 70 or 80dmg with the PotDS ability alone. Losing my Imperial Agent right away was massive...but so was keeping Exar alive. We both had better dice on defense rolls than we did on offense. Thanks for the game!

Presence of the Dark side is my favorite special ability in the game. It is so thematic and fun! I love the Doctrine of Fear, Dark Aura, Force Suppression, Distraction control of the Sith. It is a unique way to be controlled and it is fun. Great game!
