Just got back from my retreat, thank you all for getting your games in, and thank you to gandalfthegreatestwizard for keeping the factions played and results updated in the pairings and standings thread! That is so helpful!

UrbanShmi and I will be playing tonight. I'll try and get the pairings up after that.

Just so we can be efficient, The first one of our players who HAS NOT chosen a letter yet (UrbanShmi, tint, spryguy1981 and urbanjdi have already) - choose a letter A, B, F, H, or I to pick the next round's pairings.

Post that letter below

TimmerB123's Mandalorians over UrbanShmi's Fringe 211-59 (3-0)

UrbanShmi vetoed Republic and Imperials, I had already played Separatists, Yuuzhan Vong, and Old Republic

I vetoed Republic and Old Republic, UrbanShmi had already played New Republic, Sith, and Imperials.

I played Mandalorians: http://www.bloomilk.com/Squad/240068/helmets--skull-protectors---versatility-gauntlet-

--Helmets (Skull Protectors) {Versatility Gauntlet}--
38 Mandalore the Resurrector

26 Fenn Shysa
26 Skull Squadron Officer
8 R7 Astromech Droid
9 Ugnaught Demolitionist x3

I won map roll and we played on Mushroom Planet. She chose left.

We kinda both charged to the center. due to resolnaire and then speed 8 on my Mandos' turns, I was able to get a couple shots on Kriea end of round, bringing her down to 60. I won Init but Laura brought Mission Vao up with Talon's CE and got the pre-first activation shot that would have hit for 50, but she rolled a 1. I quickly took out mission. Laura charged in with Kriea to use Drain Life 3, and hit a trio of my Mandos. I rolled 2/3 saves, and she only gained 20hp back. Laura came in with Mara Jade, and shot for a potential big damage and CRIT!, but I evaded. I took out Mara. Laura brought up Hanharr who rolled a 1 and a 2. I spun a couple to see what she was going to do. She brought Talon all the way up to put Resurrector in the bubble and take away most of my twin attacks, and brought in Zalbar to cover Talon. I eventually took out Kriea, but Disruptive was annoying. After that the best I could do was fly in with Sabine to try and take out Talon. I lined up Fenn Rau so she'd get the synergy, but she whiffed anyway. Then I lost init, and Hanharr did not miss this time, taking out Sabine with death strike and Talon's CE boost. I took out Hanharr after that, and she charged in with Zalbar and Talon, and I took out Zalbar and left Talon with 20. It was 4 mandos vs 20hp Talon, and she killed an Uggie and I finished her off.

The rolls were EXTREMELY lopsided. The one time she rolled a crit, I evaded it. I rarely missed. I hope Laura's Vassal dice are better next time. I also hope I didn't use up all my Vassal Dice good luck!

Mando and I are playing noon next Wed. He's out of town camping, so that's the next time we can do it. Hopefully that will be the final game this round and I'll post the next round immediately after.

Spryguy1981 (3) defeats UrbanShmi (0) 200-10 on Crime Lord's Palace

Laura vetoed OR
I vetoed Vong.

I ran http://www.bloomilk.com/Squad/246253/agent-tulak--vg-

50 Darth Bane, Sith Master
42 Tulak Hord, Lord of Hate
40 Imperial Agent
39 Darth Sidious, Sith Emperor
18 Dark Force Nexus
8 R7 Astromech Droid
3 Ugnaught Demolitionist

Reinforcements were
6 Sith Ordinance Specialist
10 Sith Guard x2
4 Sith Recruit

Laura ran http://www.bloomilk.com/Squad/246086/road-crew
43 Cere Junda
35 Cal Kestis and BD-1
25 Merrin, Nightsister of Dathomir
23 Crix Madine, SpecForce Commander
20 SpecForce Marine
17 SpecForce Officer
15 SpecForce Urban Combat Specialist
14 Greez Dritus
8 R7 Astromech Droid

Laura set Crix up in gambit and I set the Nexus by gambit with Bane adjacent.

R1 I won init and Bane killed Crix. Laura moved her pieces around and then I pulled Bane back around the corner with the Nexus. I crept up with the Agent

R2 Laura charged the Marine who put 20 on the agent. Tulak uses throw on the Marine to do 20 damage and then a Sith Guard finishes it off. Laura moved her squad into gambit. Nexus Easy Paths Bane who runs adjacent to Cal and Assaults to kill him with a crit and some Juyo. Agent misses and then makes his dominate save :(.

R3 I win init and Bane Double + Twin's Merrin to kill her. Laura Double Twins Bane and misses all 4 attacks + a reroll. Her rolls were 6, 4, 3, 5, 5. At this point she conceded after missing those attacks with me still having Tulak, the Agent, and Sid to go.

Laura's dice rolls were godawful and really couldn't have been much worse. Bane rolled hot vs Cal, cold vs Merrin but got her with the 2 rerolls. Always a fun time playing Laura and I hope those dice turn around.

N3rdsl4y3r defeats Overley28 240 - 35 on Crime Lord's Palace

Overley28 vetoed Fringe and I vetoed Vong.

I played: http://www.bloomilk.com/Squad/243464/vg-rebel--mostly-mantis
--VG Rebel: Mostly Mantis--
43 Cere Junda
35 Cal Kestis and BD-1
25 Merrin, Nightsister of Dathomir
23 Crix Madine, SpecForce Commander
20 SpecForce Marine
15 SpecForce Urban Combat Specialist
14 Greez Dritus
11 Bothan Spymaster
11 Jedi Holocron
3 Ugnaught Demolitionist

(200pts. 10 activations)

Overley28 played: http://www.bloomilk.com/Squad/228993/vg---pirates-r-us
--VG - Pirates-R-Us--
48 Nym
35 Hondo Ohnaka
33 Enfys Nest
31 Booster Terrik, Smuggler Chief
30 Arvo Norstag, Pirate King
26 The Crimson Corsair (Sidon Ithano)
22 Wookiee Scoundrel x2
10 Pirate Breachman x2

(235pts. 10 activations)

R1 was position with Crix starting in gambit and Nym making it into the room

R2 Nym tossed a grenade at Crix who made the save and then took 40 from Cere. Pirate king pushed Crimson Corsair up the board who threw a grenade at Cere and Crix. Cal then pulled Crimson into the middle of my team. While the marine went around the bottom of the map and killed a wookie with charging fire. Hondo hit a crit on the marine, who has armored spacesuit.... Greez kills crimson. Enfys rolls a 1 on the marine.... Pirate breachman crits on the marine..... Merrin puts 20 into Nym. Wookie rolls a 1 against the marine..... Booster rolls a 2 against the marine.....

R3 Merrin kills Nym and Arvo finally takes out the marine. The combat specialists died as well, while Cal kills the wookie and Hondo

R4 Cere kills Enfys. Cal kills Pirate King. Greez kills Booster.

We went back through the game log and besides the 2 negated crits Overley28 only rolled over a 11 once. That unfortunately sums up the game. Looking forward to seeing some better dice rolls than the first two games this round.

thereisnotry defeats Gandalfthegreatestwizard 230-23 (3-0)

I veto’ed Separatists (and he’d already played Rebel, NR, Fringe, and Sith)
He veto’ed Mandos (and I’d already played Rebel, Separatist, Republic, and Vong)

I chose Sith:
--Presence of the Hord--
50 Darth Cognus
42 Tulak Hord, Lord of Hate
40 Imperial Agent
18 Dark Force Nexus
17 Vongerella, Dark Jedi
14 Exar Kun, Dark Force Spirit
10 Sith Guard x2
6 Ugnaught Demolitionist x2
3 XT-6 Droid
(200pts. 11 activations)

Gandalf chose Vong:
--Invasion!--
44 Commander Sha'kel
35 Commander Tsalok
27 Minos, Yuuzhan Vong Warrior
27 Nen Yim
22 Nagme, Master Shaper
19 Eighth Cortex Shaper
15 Yammosk War Coordinator
10 Chazrach
9 Dooje Brolo
(208pts. 9 activations)

I won the map roll so we played on Mushroom Planet, and he chose to set up on the right-hand side.

Both of us had rather ‘busy’ squads but on paper his squad definitely looked like it had the advantage: overwhelming power, stealing my CE for more damage and more movement than I could get, an undisruptible CE, etc.

He gave Master Shaper to Tsalok and also Sha’kel. He stole Tulak’s +4/+10/IdForces CE. He brought in an Executor via the 8th Cortex Shaper.

Exar haunted Cognus, Tulak gave Distraction to Cognus, Vongerella gave Tulak VongSense, the Nexus set up near the center with Tulak.

Round 1: I won the init and let Gandalf go first. The first round was mostly positioning until the end of the round. Exar turned on the Dark Aura. Gandalf was able to get some crazy movement because nearly all of his guys had Identical Forces; the result was that both Sha’kel and Minos were able to get right up to the outside of the gambit wall (with the door open) before the end of the round. I still had Tulak to go, so he walked up and smacked Sha’kel for 40dmg via rage and jarkai. The Executor wanted to give a cannon-shot to Sha’kel, but he was Distracted by Tulak. I set up my Agent so that he had LOS to several of Gandalf’s people.

Round 2: I won init and used the Agent to shoot Tsalok twice, for 40dmg after Evade and Armor. Sha’kel attacked Tulak but missed one attack and Tulak blocked the other with a fprr (VongSense). Gandalf considered sending Minos after Tulak via Sha’kel’s CE, but thought better of it because of the “if you miss you die” clause of the contract. Instead, Tsalok (slowed down by slow terrain last round) moved forward via that CE). The Chazrach charged in at Tulak, but missed. Cognus moved up to hit it once. The Nexus’ presence was nasty in this game, doing damage to several of the Vong on their turns. Exar moved up to nerf the Vongs’ saves, which allowed Tulak to get damage past Sha’kel’s armor for the kill.

Round 3: I won this init too, which allowed the Agent to put another 40dmg on Tsalok (who made a big evade to stay alive). The Chazrach missed an attack and then moved away (died from aoo’s) so that Tsalok could ambush Cognus…as had happened several times in this match, Gandalf’s dice failed him on his initial attack. The result was that Cognus only took 30dmg. Cognus responded with rage to kill Tsalok. I used IdForces to maneuver my Agent outside the building on the north end, so Gandalf used his own IdForces to start to advance Minos up there to attack the Agent. Then he made a good move to block the door with Dooje Brolo (diplomat), which would’ve been a good move, except the Nexus’ presence was too dark for him and he died. This allowed the Nexus to move Vongerella up so that she could put some damage on Nagme. Then I sac’ed the XT-6 droid to give Tulak a turn, so he could chase after Minos to put 60dmg on him via Rage and jar’kai. The 10hp Minos then attacked Tulak and landed a hit, so Tulak used Sith Reflexes to teleport and make the killing blow on Minos.

Round 4: Gandalf won this init and we were about to start playing the round, but there were 36 minutes left and all of Gandalf’s damage-dealers were off the board and none of mine were in danger of dying, so he conceded.

After Gandalf realized that the Executor’s CE wouldn’t work in the face of my Distraction pieces, he commented that he wished he’d brought the Consul (for wall-climber) instead of the Executor. That would’ve made a difference, because it would’ve prevented Tulak from shutting down the Vong pieces quite so effectively. Additionally, the dice were kind to me this game while they were unkind to him (he missed probably half of his attacks this game). At first it looked like the Vong had a strong advantage here (stealing Tulak’s CE for even more damage and also crazy movement, Overwhelming Power, etc), but bad dice for him and some key plays by me led to a result that neither of us was expecting.

There were so many things negating each other or negating the negations that we missed that. But it was such a curbstomp that I don't think playing a couple of saves wrong changed much, so I won't demand a rematch, lol.

Blink
Huh
Sad Ugh. I'm sorry! I completely missed that. Wow. It's one of those effects that's always in play when Exar is in play, and so I never stopped to think that it wouldn't affect Vong (or characters within Ysalamiri either, for that matter). And yeah, I had several people who could've put the last 10dmg on Sha'kel so it's not like it would've made a massive difference or anything.

Thanks for being cool about it, Joe.

urbanjedi defeated chiech22 212-83 (3-1)

I vetoed Sith (he had already played seps, NR, rep, mando)
He vetoed Imps (I had already played rebels, fringe, NR, Rep)

We both ended up on OR.

He played
http://www.bloomilk.com/Squad/245712/versatility-gauntlet--or-
with a consular and an Army of light trooper as the reinforcements

I played
http://www.bloomilk.com/Squad/174472/triple-hex-return-of-xander-blizz--frosty-2017-regional-winner-

He won map so we played on rebel fortress
I chose the left with him on the right.

Rd 1 was just some positioning. I advanced the hexes up into gambit, bastilla stayed back to hold the first door open, and everyone else kinda kept close. He moved his guys up, and locked the gambit room door with T3.

Rd 2
he won init and I turned on bastilla. He moved up T3 to keep the door locked and ran someone else up. Then I used the vet uggie to shatter beam the door open, and started blasting with hex droids. I think I took out a consular, an uggie and a mouse before the round was over. He was still moving up his guys to get them in position.

Rd 3-4
I was shooting like crazy with hex droids, and basically taking out one consular per guy, using my repair guys to keep the hexes alive. Towards the end of round 3 he finally ganged up on the lead hex to finish it off only to see it give extra attack to the next one in line and keep blasting. At the end of rd 3, I re-upped bastilla to keep the pressure on, and round 4 was more of the same with me just shooting guys and him getting in there and trying to get damage through. At the end of round 4, I decided that using blizz for flamethrower (I hit 3 of his guys and 2 of mine) was more important than repairing. At the end of round 4, bastilla came charging up to try and draw malak away from the big scrum of jedi and hexes.

Rd 5, I finally won init which in an ideal world would have let me kill 3 of his guys but a miss, a force bubble from farfalla, and a LS defense from the lord sure put a damper on that plan. He then wailed on the second hex, but it survived with 10HP. Blizz used flamethrower (killing 2 of his guys, my veteren uggie and hitting my 10hp hex who made both shield saves). Then the last hex threw some shots on malak who failed the rolling evade and fprr on a crit, then failed a second rolling evade before finally making one and moving adjacent to the 10hp hex. Malak then tried to finish it off to go over 100, but the hex made all its shield saves and stayed alive. Bastilla tried to finish off malak but couldn't get damage past a LS defense and a miss.

Final score was 212-83

With all of his guys having bubble until I finished off the consulars, and my guys having shields and getting repaired, we probably each did 200 or so damage that got prevented or repaired. This match could easily have gone the other way as chiech22 missed at least 2 or 3 attacks by 1 or 2, and if my shield saves had been any worse at all. If he had killed the second hex droid it wouldn't have taken much for him to gang up enough on the third to take it out as well (I think it had taken 20 or so damage).

Overall it was a heck of game and we had good fun with it.

Mando (3pts) defeats Timmerb123 (0pt). Final score: 209-67

I veto'd Fringe. Tim had played OR, Vong, Mando and Seps

Tim veto'd my Sith. I had played Rebels, Imperials, OR and Seps

Tim wins map roll and we play on Crime Lords Palace.

My squad:

--Iron Sha'kels (Galactic Attrition)--
44 Commander Sha'kel
28 Tsavong Lah, Warrior Elite
28 Zenoc Quah
27 Minos, Yuuzhan Vong Warrior
22 Khalee Lah, Warrior Progeny
18 Praetorite Vong Priest
15 Yammosk War Coordinator
13 Yun-Ne'Shel Priest
5 Zonoma Sekot Scout

(200pts. 9 activations)

Tim's squad:

--Raddus' Radical Red Ace Rebels {Versatility Gauntlet}--
27 Luke Skywalker, Rebel Commando
25 Han Solo in Stormtrooper Armor
21 Jon "Dutch" Vander
19 Gold Squadron Ace
57 Red Squadron Ace x3
18 Klatooinian Captain
11 Admiral Raddus
9 R2-D2 with Extended Sensor
8 Juno Eclipse
5 Tantive IV Trooper

(200pts. 12 activations)

Crazy game with wild rolls. Tim early on got a battering charge off on both Tsavong Lah and Minos despite being able to survive the AOO to get there when Minos rolled a 1, but then he proceeded to miss both attacks against Tsavong and only got 1 hit in vs Minos. Next round, Tim won init again but the Red Ace couldn't hit Minos because of his high defense and Doctrine of Fear, so minos survived. Tsvong Lah killed the Ace and latter on I charging Fired with Minos to take out the Gold Squadron Ace after not getting hit from an AOO from the Tantive Trooper, and then Shakel gave the CE cannon shot to Minos to take out another Red Squadron Ace. That one two punch was the key swing in the game that made things go in my favor. Minos died soon after because Juno had disruptive and negated my void defeat and Evade. Khalee Lah got into the mix. Next round i win init barely by 1 total difference and that kinda sealed the game. Khalee took out the remaining Ace with the won init after doing her devotion. Khalee eventually died to Luke and Klat attacks, but Shakel was still almost ful hp. Tsvong did eventually get down to 20hp and could have died but Tim forgot to get Dutch into the fight latter in the game and that kinda led me to win on gambit at the end without Dutch getting to attack. Most of the game we both didn't even get into gambit. all the action took place in the upper half. We both didn't roll super great but my rolls didn't need to be very high to hit whereas Tim needed a lot to get past Embrace of Pain and Doctrine of Fear. I did fail a few rolls for crab armor and Avoid defeat but the overall tankiness of my Vong was too much for the Rebels. Good game game Tim! Could have gone very differently had the Red Ace been able to not miss those 3 out of 4 attacks early on vs Minos and Tsavong on the battering charge!
