Not fully dismissing your idea but there would be interaction concerns. I think Motti was saying anytime a Rebel Trooper dies, another Rebel Trooper gets to shoot, akin to death shots. As your Brother in Arms if that is an SA that might be too much with the new Mon Mothma who does something similar but in a CE.

I think they are fun, but it would be cool to take a break from them and make some stats for colossal vehicles and creatures instead. Honestly, I wouldn't care if cards weren't printed for them. Make a layout to where you could get 2 on a sheet of cardstock at an easily readable font size, and let people print them on their own. Scenario pieces are fun. Heck, there are some stats for Blizzard 1 already made.

Yes. I'm not sure if there is a completely nailed down rule set posted for it. It goes something like this: 500pts, faction rules At least 1 Epic character 16 max activations (reinforcements can't bring it over that, but reserves are allowed) 3 CE limit, or unlimited CEs (tourney organizers choice)

I would like to see something original; the Clone Wars show is offering a lot that could be built off of. I guess they won't be taking ideas from Star Wars Detours?

I'm sure something along these lines has been suggested in the past:
Squad Leader [Counts as having the same name as allied characters for purposes of special abilties whose name contains Squad. Can use abilities whose names contain Squad from allies within 6 squares]
Put it on a commander that grants Squad abilities, or grant it to an existing commanders via CE/Camaraderie.

I'd like to see another representation of han solo from Empire strikes back. Here's a suggestion of what I'd like to see. Captain Solo Cost: 35 HP: 90 Def: 18 Att: 10 Dmg: 20 Special Abilities: Unique Accurate Shot (Can attack an enemy with cover even if it's not the nearest enemy) Pilot Avoid Defeat (Whenever this character would be defeated, make 2 saves, each needing 11; if both succeed, this character has 10 Hit Points instead of being defeated) Cunning Attack +20 (+4 Attack and +20 Damage against an enemy who has not activated this round) Never Tell Me the Odds (Suppresses enemy special abilities that modify initiative) Force 1 Captain Solo custom

A Watto with a Junk dealer ability.
Basically works like pellaeon's CE where you can replace a Commander with a lower cost version except with watto you can do that with 1 character with mounted weapon and 1 droid. (It need not be the same persona, probably should be non-unique characters too).

Fringe Security Terminal 15 Hit Points: 40 Defense: 8 Attack: 0 Damage: 0 Base: Large Damage Reduction 10 (Whenever this character takes damage, reduce the damage dealt by 10. Attacks with lightsabers ignore this special ability.) Emplacement (Cannot move or be moved. Set up anywhere on your half of the battle map.) Machinery (Industrial Repair removes damage from this character) Scomp Link (Adjacent allies that use Override or Door Gimmick do not need to see the door to designate it as open or closed.) Security Checkpoint (Allies added to your squad through Reserves may be set up adjacent to this character rather than in the starting area.)
Price may need to be adjusted. I based it off of the bacta tank, though unlike the bacta tank who has Life Support, this people really cant do much other than activate and potentially collect gambit unless another external special ability is being triggered.
Basically, while i know the bacta tank is not a competitive piece, I think its one of the best pieces in the game. This game has a few gems that help bring more interest and environment into the game rather than being purely foot soldiers shooting at eachother. The Troop Cart and desert skiff are another example of this. I'd like to see more environmental pieces and pieces that can interacted with... shield generators, computer terminals, bacta dispersers, lifts/elevators(!?). A lift could maybe allow "thrawn swapish mechanics" between two lift units. Bacta Dispesors (which can be used in conjunction with the bacta tank!). Maybe they won't ever see competitive play, but it makes themed squads and scenarios much more fun. I also think with the V-sets ingenuity, they could maybe even be competitive in the right build.
