This Regional is the first ever in the history of our game that both Jacen and I played in and neither of us made the top four.
Congrats to the finalists!

Spry over FlyingArrow 116-111
He hit Reserves round 1 and brought in Dooje Brolo. Rey and Finn died killing Blastbuggers. Chewie posted in a door and BB-8 rolled out. 3 or 4 more Blastbuggers died there. Dooje tried to move in on Chewie, but a trooper got line of sight to kill the diplomat. Then we were at a standstill. I holed up in gambit on one side. He would run in for gambit at the tail end of the round and then run out at the top of the round. He was up 1.
I set up to try an assault the next round, but it left Chewie in a doorway. He took a few razorbugs but still had 90 hp at the top of the last round. I won init (despite Spry's Recon), and Chewie moved out to shoot the Lah Warrior who was in gambit. Only needing a 3... +16 Attack vs 19 def in cover. But a save 15 Crab Armor afterward... and then Chewie rolls a 1. Oh well.
Last chance... wall off gambit so he can't run his guy in at the end of the round. But I didn't have the HP to do it. If he had been lazy and just spun guys quickly instead of attacking... maybe. No luck. Blast bugs take out a trooper, but Han, Leia and the other trooper survive to keep gambit walled off. I do get gambit while he doesn't... but the trooper is the difference, pushing the 1 point lead out to a 5 point lead.

Darkdracul over Ultrastar 242 - 103
What a ridiculous match. I accidentally shut off my computer and can't remember all details so I'm not doing a full game report. Needless to say there were tons of saves and crazy damage going out. I killed Cin in the 3rd round and finally dropped Vader in the 6th or 7th round. I got 5 rounds of gambit. By the end Bronson had killed Han, Chewie, Fin, BB-8 and the Trooper. Really I got lucky again, I think Bronson's squad beats mine most everytime. Dont get me wrong, I enjoy playing rock squads, but the father is too extreme for my tastes.

Spryguy defeats Dracul 166-36 on Theed
I brought in the Seer and having range 8 on my Blast Bugs coupled with some poor shooting by Poe on a charge helped the victory appear more lopsided than it really was. I expected 2 of my guys to survive Poe's charge out of 4 but when 3 survived I was pretty shocked. I was able to take out Poe after his charge and then it was fall back slowly. I wont post a full play report as Bryan recorded the game and we can probably get the info up here.

Thanks for the recording! Watching it now
Edit: Wow. That looked like fun. I am looking forward to trying out the Vsets. /s
Seriously though, are all competitive games that... dry?

Seriously though, are all competitive games that... dry? What were you looking for to make it more exciting? Pretty much any recorded minis game will just be characters moving around then being deleted from the board. Although if you aren't familiar with the characters, it's hard to think about why players might make moves they did, which for me is the most interesting part of it. It would still be more fun to play than to watch, though.

This is probably the worst idea of how to get an idea of vset characters.
Just seeing it on a screen? No offense to anyone but that sounds awful.
Gizmo - you gotta play live. Come hang out and play. Everyone is welcoming and happy to go through any confusion. It is so much easier to explain things live in person

See DarthDracul you should have totally added the commentary along with the video of you cursing the Blast Bugs. That would have been some quality entertainment!

Sorry, I judged unfairly. It just looked unpleasant based on the text chat. We have a blast (without blast bugs, hehe) when we play together. But it will probably always be more fun to play in person.

Vassal is a reasonable substitute to get acquainted with the game when you can't play live.
Nothing beats playing live with a good group of people.
Speaking of - we have the Chicago regional coming up on June 3. Come out and play. I promise you will have a good time or I will refund your entry fee personally ( serious offer)
Also a group of us are going up to Wisconsin regional. It's famous for having a wide range of play or skill levels ( including having some players as young as about 12 years old).
It's a very friendly atmosphere and there will be a lot of people there that are encouraging. Word on the street is there will be a bunch of free stuff to give to newcomers to the regional.
Rides can be arranged. Join the fun my friend

Congrats to Spry
I wanted to apologize to everyone, especially urbanshmi and narrkon. I really do want to be able to participate fully in things.. This time around some serious serious stuff went down. But my baby will be born on Friday and in a month or so everything will be back to normal (after 8 months of crazy).
So I will be back on more soon. I have a few minutes right now while the students in class are eog reviewing!
