I'm not saying that no one will pick up the title after we do a virtual set.
We have to be able to carry on what we were left with.
We go out of Wizards of the coast with no home, but a big enough community to sustain the game. there is no question in my mind that we need virtual sets. BUT....I don't want it to be "21 Virtual sets later".
It is fairly obvious that there is no agreement on on how 'Ethical" we can be with each at this point.
This pisses me off more then anything.
All any of us want is the game to survive its "Ice Age", and survive it fast.
I am going to Strive in promoting this game, as it is at this moment, and in that very same moment, I am done with DCI as well. That is not to say that I don't want to play with anyone I have had the honor of playing with, but I will no longer affiliate myself with anything in the Pocket of Wizards of the Coast.
My Concern, and the Concern of others is, Where do we go from here........?
Its obvious that this is not going to be an easy road for all of us, but, I'm going to bust my Butt in getting the word out for the ones who want to play with an actual NEW piece of plastic!
And thats still on Topic.

And if nobody is worried about making Vsets then why was it even brought up?
And why did dean already say that he is ready to drop a Vset?
lol

Dean never said he was ready to drop a Vset. You're jumping the gun with comments like that (as well as putting words in someone else's mouth).

Time for a reality check. Based on WOTC's comments, they will be keeping their mechanics. I would be very, very shocked if they sell it to anyone else. And honestly, the decision has been made already between the companies if it is going to happen. Which is one reason why the tournament stuff is the priority, as there is a bit of a wait and see approach, especially given the message at Star Wars.com.

Without new stuff, this game is going to die. These games are never "complete", and even those that work really close to that model, still targets an audience that loves new stuff. If you are fine playing with what we will have after MOTF for the next 8 years, good for you. But you will be very lonely.

Decry 20 V-sets all you want, but it has kept SWCCG alive for 8 years after going out of print. Can you compare it's following to say. How many people still play Rage? Or Doomtown?

It did not kill any chance of a new game, because NO ONE WAS BUYING?

Does anyone know what a Lock Out in sports is?
its when the Players association and the Owners can't come to an agreement. Sometimes, these "disagreements" go into the season, usually not allowing the season of the particular sport to continue, or even start.
Our sport has been Locked out.
Its not time to get creative and re construct the Meta. if anything, Its the Meta that killed the game.
i know I know, What I just said was sacrilege. But, its the truth. Look at our Community. We cannot seem to get along. This is the Death of our game. Us.
But we can easily change that if we can all agree that we can learn from previous mistakes by other companies.
All we have to do is agree to do it.

Mixed Emotions:

I am really upset that a AAT was never produced.

I am really glad that I can finally stop buying these things, I don't even know how many thousands of dollars I've spent on this game. I'm sure my wife will be glad too...

In the fall we are looking at releasing a 60 piece virtual set that covers all factions. We are hoping to have the cards availible for download or have something set up where for a small price you can have cards (current game quality ) printed for your use.

That's exactly what I gathered from this...

And Borg, how can you compare this with games that had no market?
I haven't seen any GOOD arguments supporting Vsets yet...

This is really a bad decision as a whole...

I believe Dean posted this before seeing the article on StarWars.com that hinted at keeping with the miniatures. So nothing is set in stone. And the way you said it in your post, you made it sound like a Vset was going to be released very soon. Dean and company talked about the Fall. That's a long ways from now. A lot can change.

Also, I'd say 20 Vsets indicates success. That means the SWCCG is still going strong. There wouldn't be so many if the idea had failed.

Thats still not proof that it won't happen...I'm still waiting for you to show me how you know it won't get picked up...but go ahead and keep complaining because its stuff like that, that is pushing people away more than the game being dropped

If, the pleasant unlikely-ness happens that the game gets picked up by another manufacturer, its entirely possible that the 'V-set' created will simply turn into "The Lost Twenty" Mark II. I think that you're a newer poster so you may not know that around Universe, members from the community decided it was time to created a set a simple customs to create the top 20 miniatures that had not yet been made. The set included iconic figures such as Darth Revan, Rukh, and others. It was a great initiative and can still be found on the Holocron if you want to check it out. Something similar to that, but on a grander scale is what we hope to be able to do by the fall.

great custom set. I think its really neat that the original creators of this set are not only still active in the game, but are on board with Dean's initiative to continue the game.

So, BS1 (ironic) and Dahatchetjeedi, would you like to reactivate your old accounts and just go by your regular, trolling, trouble causing names, or just pretend to be new persons here with a strikingly similar tardness to you?

I'm Blizzard Scout, and i so don't approve of this message. Sithborg, this requires one of your edits.

I agree this was semi baiting, but be fair, MtB should not have signed on under another name. If this is your first account, Hatchet, I apologize.

Oh, and not a smurf, I am more of a reader. Look at our join dates.

...what? EVERY response I saw concerning the progress being made by Dean et al. was overwhelmingly positive until you and dahatchet got involved.

As for v-sets ruining games, you're talking about games that already got canceled. The SWCCG COULD NOT continue, with or without v-sets. Wizards had the opportunity to buy the mechanics, and they didn't. Then v-sets came out. It was either v-sets or nothing. You can't say that v-sets killed the game; the game was already dead in the sense that no company was making it and no one was going to continue making it.

There is no evidence that v-sets hurt any game (you personally not liking the direction of a game is not evidence). If dahatchetjeedi has real proof that v-sets prevented any game from being picked up, I would be very interested. As in, I'd like to see documents or communication of some kind from any company saying "We would be interested in picking up the SWCCG, but since the players are making v-sets, we aren't going to do it". Until hard evidence in that vein is presented, I see absolutely no reason whatsoever why these claims should be taken as anything more than a single individual's opinion.

On the other hand, there is concrete evidence that the SWCCG is very much alive and kicking. A number of people still play it, and in fact they had a tournament last year which had to be cut off at 64 people. There were literally more people wanting and ready to play the game than they could accept. That's very strong, hard evidence that people still play the game and that it's going strong.

you think that you are blowing the whistle on some big scandal, and doing it publicly proves that you are trolling. Sorry, but that is what you portrayed.
