Yeah, this must be the fourth or fifth mega-thread we've had on the subject since the fall.

I'm wondering...I think I used the word broken wrong when I started this (apparently that word has a defined meaning in SWM) Blushing Blushing Blushing, when I said broken I used it in the term of out-dating a perfectly fine piece. Kind of like getting more for your money. I don't know about the rest of you but I DO like the v-sets...I just think that they seem to over shadow the WOTC pieces. The amount of points you have to spend to get an awesome fighter that can be booted by a ton of ces seems to have gone down with the v-sets. Examples are Talon, Kelborn, Rakghoul Warrior, Coleman Trebor, Klatooinian Assassin, Mandalorian Counter-Intelligence Officer, Morrigan Corde, and I'm sure there's more. They now out date peices like- Kel Dor Bounty Hunter, Dash Rendar, Renegade Smuggler, Jedi Battlemaster, Antarian Ranger, Imperial Sovereign Protector. And I do know for a fact that Darth Zannah is pretty darn hard to hit and can to a ton of damage.BigGrin A lot of these pieces I've used or watched someone play them multiple times before. So I really do think that there are a good amount of v-set pieces that cost less for what they do compared to the WOTC pieces. I'm not saying there bad for that though, I just think they are beginning to make the WOTC pieces a little obsolete.

I don't think you've been getting anyone worked up - my perception of you is that your group has just started dipping your toes into the v-sets, and you're just getting a feel for it.

My ranking/perception of the pieces you listed is something like this:
Kelborn (the go to piece in his faction)
Dash Rendar, Renegade Smuggler (so many ways to boost him, works in so many different factions)
Klatooinian Assassin (kind of comparable with the Kel Dor - better base damage, less self destruct, but just better enough that they're problematically powerful)
Morrigan Corde (very powerful, in her subtle way)
Jedi Battlemaster (the gold standard for a mid-range non-unique Jedi)
Kel Dor Bounty Hunter (that Self Destruct 40 has lots of possibilities).
Talon (as Greentime said, kind of a Sith, melee Dash, really good but constrained by having a faction and not being able to shoot)
Mandalorian Counter-Intelligence Officer (good counter to some of the problems Wizards left the game with)
Coleman Trebor (useful in some specific builds)
Rakghoul Warrior (kind of cool, but more of a situational piece)
Antarian Ranger (vanilla piece that has its uses, but never been seen on the competitive tables)
Imperial Sovereign Protector (interesting piece that's never been competitive).

I don't think the v-sets have altered too much of the things you listed - Dash is still really good for 28 points, and there are all sorts of ways to utilise him. The Jedi Battlemaster has got better, as the Old Republic has gotten more options. I love the Kel Dors with Imperial Jor'us for a fun squad. The Antarian Rangers and the ISPs are still just decent pieces, like they always have been.

Fringe Double, Greater Mobile shooters under cost 35... only 4 of them:

Dash RS,
Brianna,
Echani Handmaiden,
Rohlan Dyre

In most (not all) builds, Dash is the choice over any of the others.

Fringe Twin, Mobile Attack shooters under cost 35...
Bith Black Sun Vigo
Echani Handmaiden
Nautolan Black Sun Vigo

Same thing. In most builds, he is the best Fringe mobile shooter in his point range.

If we expand the definition a bit, he does face some stiff competition from Morrigan Corde. Morrigan Corde is probably the closest thing to a 'replacement' for Dash, in that she's a Fringe shooter of similar cost and is a very strong piece. Suppressive fire probably makes her a better choice than Dash very often, but not always. She has a greater range (Charging Fire) and semi-mobility with Agile. But she's not clearly better... she does cost 3 points more, has a max unboosted damage output of 40 versus 80, and isn't as easy to boost (she won't benefit as much from damage boosts because she has fewer attacks, or if she gets Extra Attack, it's harder to use without Greater Mobile Attack).

I'm not sure Coleman is more of a situational piece. He works well for a lot of squads, most notably swap squads.

Fair enough. I moved him up one place, and changed his description a little. He still probably wouldn't make my list of the Republic's 25 best pieces though - he's just a nice, handy little option with his own niche. That list is just my very quickly written down personal opinion - nothing too definitive.

Personally, I'd rank him similar to how I'd rank a Rebel Lando DS. Nice little hitter in a faction perfectly prepared to take advantage of him.

('Course, your opinion on Lando's ideal faction may differ. I'm thinking Leia).

It does seem that less people are bashing the V-sets though. That means they leftCrying or they actually tried playing these broken pieces and found out - they aren't broken, they are, however a NPE. (not the same thing)

And my patience with this thread is done. There are ways to discuss this without being insulting, on both sides.
