Okay, anyone who took basic math in high school knows that logically, you have a 5% chance of rolling any number......but did you ever happen to notice that everyone's dice defy logic? There are Sooooooo many stories of 2 crits in a then, when the odds of rolling 2 crits in a row are 400 to 1
So being the numbers crazed Aspie I am, I decided to roll my dice 200 times to get the odds for my dice.....turns out I have a 2% chance to roll a 7 but a 10% chance to roll a 1 and a ..... Wait for it...... Bloody 15% chance of a crit.......odd
I have a clear die so there's no bubble.......
I asked my physics teacher and he explained why.......the numbers are carved into the die.......same as your more likely to flip a tails because Lincoln's head is a little too dense........the 1 is heavier because it has the least carved out......the 20 is lighter because it has the most......
Freaky

Well I think with percentages like that, its worked out by thousands and maybe millions of rolls. It all evens out in then end,

Statistically it should be once, but in reality its a lot more.......I did it with all my dice and got similar results, but it was the let dramatic in the one above because the die is smaller but the numbers are the same size

Thats what VASSAL is for. The perfect-statistic computer program. Ironically, some people (ex: EmporerDragon) have worse luck on VASSAL than in real-life.

And that is why I firmly believe that Vassal either has some sort of hate-algorithm encoded in its programming or is infested by cybergremlins.

You can ask anyone in my VASSAL RPG group about how the "random" generator works for me. I rolled four 1s in a row in the middle of a fight Luckily someone in our group has an ability to get a free attack when an enemy or ally in LOS rolls a natural 1 on an attack. So I guess I was giving him some REALLY good synergy..... Sincerely, Jester007

Dr. Evazan says: "vassal doesn't like you, I don't like you either" LOL...good one. Played a game this week using Czulking Lah with crab armor 2...rolled 3 1s during the course of the game when rolling the armor. Oh yeah, during a stretch of 5 rounds when it was pretty important to win initiative I lost them all... 3 of the rolls were 1s.

My friend and I while on a Vacation to the Dominiacan Republic took our minis and around 25 dice. We took a bucket of water and rolled each of the dice into the bucket and mapped out each of the rolls. The water is supposed to balace out the weight factor. We documented how many 1's, 20's and the average rolls. We had heard of this test online about 5 years ago. We mapped out each dice 250 times. All of the dice from the different sets and all the other various colored dice pretty much averaged out to the exact same number except for one....... The Orange dice from the ROTS set..... It rolled on average 7 more 20s and a much higher number on the average dice.. as well as a much lower number of ones....... That wasn't the amazing thing though... The amazing thing is that... Thinking back.... While our wives went to sit at a beautiful beach on the Dominican rep. we were playing minis and testing dice in the Hotel room

just throwing this in there, but a number generator like on Vassal is far from perfect. A percentage chance certainly can lower and increases the odds of something happening, but everything really just comes down to whatever happens happens.
No matter how something is programmed, or a die is rolled, it is all just random occurrence. I've seen some bizarre rolls before, and it just happens. once time a guy rolled 2 and nothing but for the majority of a game. we just ended it and started a new one because it wasn't fun. Just kind of happens.

I've been suspicious of the random number generator on Vassal for a while now. It just seems off sometimes.... But real-life die can sometimes fail to have exactly randomly distributed number, but they are usually pretty accurate (either your die is an anomaly, CC, or 200 rolls just isn't a significant number of tests). If you want REALLY accurate dice (almost exactly 5% chance per side), check out http://www.gamescience.com/ You can find them in a big booth at many cons, too. They're "precision" dice that are supposedly made better than others. I don't personally own a set, but they seem legit to me, and I've heard good things about them.

I'll look them up......I've been trying to find metal ones for awhile as metal ones are denser so the numbers won't have as much of an impact

Like 50 bucks for a set of 12.
