Searching by set instead of faction ?? Options

Location: Akron Ohio, just south of dantooine.
Went to search for squads that had "X" and not "Y" and found out those functions were seperated by set, not faction. Very confusing. Is anyone else having trouble with this, or do I need to study my set lists and the order they came out in?
