When using Pellaeon to swap a commander after set-up, can you bring in a character that has affinity to Imperials?
I know that during squad building, when you build a squad with an affinity character, they become part of that faction, but Pellaeons CE activates after set-up so I'm not sure if the squad building rules apply then.

the only one I could possibly imagine you are talking about is Rex. I would guess so but don't go by me, let's see what the experts have to say if they can pry themselves away from TORland for a minute.

There are currently 2 commanders who can be brought into the Imps via 501st Affinity, and another 13 that can come in via Order 66.
It may be addressed elsewhere (I don't play Imperial, so I don't always pay a lot of attention to their threads...) but I'm curious about Order 66, too.
I could be mistaken, but I believe that neither Affinity not Order 66 would work with Paelleon. His commander effect specifies "Imperial characters but I don't think Affinity technically changes the character's faction until AFTER they are in the squad. (As a related point, I'm not even sure that Order 66 changes the faction).
Taken literally, I think either of the 501st commanders could be swapped OUT (since once they are in the squad, they count as Imperials) but not IN.
Yes? No?

I was thinking more of using him swap epic Vader out for The Phantom Menace or getting Mas in for Ozzel

You cannot bring in a Republic character with Order 66, since their faction does not change.

A few other related issues: Certain Republic characters can be in an Imp squad only with the Emperor (Order 66) or Vader (501st Affinity). What happens if you swap those commanders (Emperor/Vader) out after squad creation? Can you simply not do it because characters are "dependent" on them? Theoretically, would it be different if the characters were in via a commander effect (like Ulic's Mando commander effect)?

No, but you don't have to be a commander to be swapped IN via Admiral Gilad Pellaeon, you just have to be a commander to swap out. So you can switch up Ozzel for a non-commander.

Nothing would happen for the characters already in the squad, but it would prevent you from bringing more of the listed characters into the squad (e.g. Reserves).
