So, My girlfriend and I got the game. Sadly, and I kind of thought this would be the case, my computer isn't up to snuff. It runs but it's choppier than a Vegematic during an earthquake. I am looking at computers and trying to lock down what I (and by extension her) need to run this thing well.

I found a gaming computer on NewEgg for about 749 USD with S/H and an extended warranty but I would rather see if I can get my computer either stripped down and built back up. Granted, it's a 3 year old computer (no problems but this) which means new MB, chip, power supply, 8 GB RAM, graphics card, heat syncs, etc.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

well what kind of hard drive do you have? that alone could bring it up, also your graphics card may be the problem. With mine i have to put in an additional graphics card because the on-board one is integrated and it makes every game choppy, that could be your problem

you might try just geting a new graphics card to put it. IT may save you a whole lot of money. First though you need to check to se if your computer has open slots for them

It may be some of the graphics settings. I barely meet the minimums in my video memory on my laptop, and I turned off shadows, tree and grass detail, and one other setting about focus on target, and it works beautifully now.

Working on the settings. But a question occurs to me: Can a 3 year old computer handle a very new VC? Say a gt 550?

Update: Lapper, after tweaking the settings on the GC, it turns out to work ok. The citys, as with most MMORPGs, seem to cause more problems than the actual combat. May still need to update the Lapper's graphics card (Radeon 4200). The Desktop may need a bit more work. Has a quad core Taurion 2 but the graphics card is 3200 integrated. Only has a 400 W power supply.

So that begs the question: What kind of GC should I get for that old a computer? I doubt it can handle a 550 GT.
