I was looking at the BoH box recently and wonder what the squads could have and maybe even should have been. Here are my takes on the Rebel and Imperial sides of the box:
http://www.bloomilk.com/Squad/113980/what-boh-rebels-should-have-been
http://www.bloomilk.com/Squad/113981/what-boh-imperial-could-have-been-

My improvement "rules" were that I couldn't change the number of huge or large sized minis, I had to leave both sides with the original number of minis, I had to keep the set's unique pieces, and I had to keep the number of Rare/VR reprints the same. I tried to make each squad functional within the theme and the rules. I think I did alright with the Rebel squad but my guidelines made the Imperial squad a pain. Here is the Imperial squad:
71 Darth Vader, Legacy of the Force
54 Blizzard Scout 1
18 Snowtrooper with E-Web Blaster
17 General Veers, Hologram
14 Snowtrooper Commander
24 Elite Snowtrooper x2

(198pts. 7 activations)

I think taking out hologram Veers for normal General Veers would be good but then I also need to trade Vaders to AoE (if using those sets) or the sets Imperial Commander which leaves enough points for another Snowtrooper. Changing Veers violates the "keep the set's unique pieces" policy and adding another Trooper violates the "keep the same number of figures" policy.

Nice take on it at the 200 pt level.

Here is my custom set that fixes many of the problems with the standard 1500 pt Hoth Battle so you don't have to add any extra rules that aren't on figs.

Thanks for the comments. If TFU pieces could have been in the sets originally I was a little disappointed in what's there although there wasn't much that fits well afterwards.

In the squad comments I addressed some things R5Don4 put up. On the Rebel side the good old Rebel Officer can make a good substitution for one of the three EHT I had in my improved version. It cuts damage potential by giving up a potential 30 with Deadeye to just 10 for the officer which is important when Elite Snowtroopers have 30 hp but an extra +2 attack would actually increase the actual damage rate except it may not increase Imperial attrition.

One the Imperial side it was suggested I could go down to basic Snowtroopers instead of using Elites and gain activations. That doesn't work because of the rules I set up for the update as outlines above. I've said it both places but either Lord Vader or Darth Vader LotF works in the squad. As we know Lord Vader is a bigger offensive threat but here I went with Vader, LotF because he works better with the rest of the squad. Advantageous Attack could increase Imperial damage output IF attacking unactivated rebels (allowing the Elites to one shot EHT) but is overkill and conditional with the other pieces. The extra attack from LotF also increases potential damage by letting everyone take an extra shot (or two from BS1) or hitting and shooting at someone else. The other reason to go with LotF is because he is more resistant to ranged attacks which is what the rebels would rain down.
