Yo dudes.
So, just wanted to let you know the state of play wi' a coupl'a things. We've just finished LowerHuttaCon2012 here and we've been focusing on that (theHutts has written about it in the Events section). Anyhoo:
The Save11 Vmag is still in production and I'm predicting an April release. For some strange reason, Teaching doesn't seem to give you as much time as one was previously used to. Go figure?! And:
The next planned update of the Rankings Website will be the addition of a Tournament tab. We were planning to get that up and running for March 9 but we're still messing with it. IT IS COMING! So hold on to your Tournament results. We have 36 games from LHCon to put in and I'm gonna hold off until the Tournament update is in. (Also, you can now add multiple games in the Add Game tab... but I want us to use the Tournament tab for tournaments so we can tag them properly!)
When's the first Regional?

Hey kez I have a question about the rankings system. I noticed some discrepancies in the rankings from the Kryptonite group and it appears that the system is throwing out the results from past matches between the same two people and only keeping the result of their most recent match (that's my hunch anyway). Is it supposed to be doing that?
And thank you thank you thank you for putting the time, effort and energy into this! The system is awesome (even if it does show me ranked behind Chargers for the moment, lol)!!!!! You sir are truly deserving of that Hall of Fame induction!

Hey, I hope I'm allowed to answer this, as a member of Kez's playgroup. Kez said in the other thread - the burgeoning FAQ one - that: Quote: The ICC Test Rankings (in International Cricket) work in a unique way. Test Cricket is such a long game that it takes roughly 3-4 years for the ten test-playing nations in the world to play each other, therefore a annual league is impossible. Their innovation is that the league table is ongoing, or that when a nation plays another, the ranking points they score in that game "replaces" the previous score. You are only as good as your last game against a given opponent. The Ranking System works in this way too. If I play theHutts (one of my local players) and win 3-0, I gain that score to my name and he logs 0pts against me. When we next meet, if he beats me 2-1, now my 3pt game against him is replaced by the 1pt and he goes up. What that does is limits the effectiveness of simply playing the same LGS folk week-in, week-out. You are encouraged to foster a competitive LGS setting or play against other opponents.
I like this system; it's a good indication of where you are at a particular time. I played casually for a while, with terrible minis (my squad centerpiece was Obi-Wan Kenobi from Rebel Storm, and this was in 2009 and 2010....), and I got sick of losing and started buying my own pieces, I started picking up wins relatively quickly and climbed from #9 to #2 in a short period of time. In this case it was totally fair that I went up the rankings quickly. By the same token, I've played doug*platypus, I think, five times, only losing the most recent one. And I'm fine with him having the points for that - he outplayed me and he deserves it.

Thanks TheHutts. I completely forgot about that. Makes sense. I guess I'm just do used to sports in the states where most things are about win/loss record and then strength of schedule. It doesn't make a difference to me how it is set up, just the fact that we have something is awesome!
I guess I will just have to find other ways to talk smack (good natuted of course) with Chargers!
