I've just been running some numbers through from Michigan Regional about how the different factions are doing in Regionals. Since I don't actually have a match by match breakdown for Michigan, it's just based on the average of the players' overall ranking at the end of the tournament. Ranking numbers are between 0 and 100; so if there was only one Rebel squad, and it finished in last place, the rebels would have a ranking of 0, while if there was one Seperatist squad, and it finished in first place, the Seperatists would have a ranking of 100.
It's not the most meaningful breakdown, as it's a bit basic and there's not much data so far, but it's kind of interesting - the four factions that were struggling before the v-sets are doing well overall so far, while Old Republic and Republic, which someone labelled as the Gatekeeper factions, are in the middle. I have a pivot table that I can update as more results come in.
I did something similar last year, and it wasn't really a good predictor of GenCon or anything; for example, the Republic had a pretty bad record over the Regionals, but then at GenCon the Skybuck teams that didn't show up much at Regional level did really well:
Yuuzhan Vong, Ranking Points 75.00, 2 squads Imperial, Ranking Points 70.83, 6 squads Sith, Ranking Points 60.42, 2 squads Mandalorian, Ranking Points 54.17, 2 squads Old Republic, Ranking Points 47.22, 3 squads Republic, Ranking Points 43.33, 5 squads Seperatist, Ranking Points 20.83, 3 squads New Republic, Ranking Points 16.67, 1 squad Rebel, Ranking Points 8.33, 1 squad
Since there's only been one Regional, I chucked in some results from FrostyCon and LowerHuttACon, along with the Michigan Regional, in the below table - they're the two events since Vengeance's release that I could find, although I'll phase them out when we have more Regional data: Yuuzhan Vong, 73.38, 5 Imperial, 67.86, 7 Mandalorian, 62.78, 3 Republic, 54.10, 14 Sith, 49.63, 4 Old Republic, 41.10, 5 New Republic, 32.63, 4 Seperatist, 24.20, 7 Rebel 8.33, 1

Thanks for this! I'm most surprised/pleased about the Mandos being right up there :D

with finishing 4th at Mich that really helped the mandos but got smoked by 2 imperials in the semis.

It's a pretty small sample size overall, and the Mando sample is especially small. I'll be interested to see how it looks after a few more regionals. I think, since it's just after a set release, people are trying new things. I don't think there's been a Solo Charge squad in all those 50 results in the bottom table, and that should still do well. While the Mandalorians and Vong got lots of good new tricks in Vengeance, so I can imagine that's partly why they're doing well.

I just updated this a little - I haven't seen full results for Owensboro or Pacific Northwest, so only the top part of each of those fields is represented, so the overall rankings are high:
Yuuzhan Vong, ranking points 84.55, 5 squads Imperial, 73.90, 7 Mandalorian, 68.26, 5 Old Republic, 54.56, 6 Republic, 49.89, 8 Sith, 47.02, 5 New Republic, 46.79, 2 Seperatist, 20.83, 3 Rebel, 8.33, 1
And updated after WNY - the percentages represent how much each faction deviates from the mean:
Seperatist, 3 squads, -70.1% Republic, 11 squads, -18.0% Sith, 7 squads, -16.0% Rebel, 4 squads, -8.8% Old Republic, 7 squads, -4.0% Mandalorian, 7 squads, 4.8% New Republic, 3 squads, 6.2% Imperial, 9 squads, 27.2% Vong, 5 squads, 57.3%

Only one Republic and one New Republic in top 4 so far right? Those were the gatekeepers last year. Can you beat Skybuck/Solo Charge? was the big question. Nothing so far has jumped off the page as the squad to beat, but we have several more regionals to go. Maybe someone finds a crazy effective squad in the next few weeks.
I do think its funny for all the threads upon threads upon threads about Mace he hasnt made a single top 4 as of yet. Granted TheHutts won the KiwiCup with him he hasnt faired so well in the US

Mace won FrostyCon too - but yeah, he's been played quite a lot in Regionals and hasn't yet made the top 4 - it sounded like he was quite a few of the lower placed Owensboro squads, which weren't recorded.
It sounds like there are a bunch of good squads now that can do well - and noone really knows what's best. I assume that some version of a Ganner/Mara squad must be still good, but they've barely been played.
After PA/MD Regional, only using data from the Regionals with complete results (so no Owensboro or Pacific Northwest - those results only change the order of Mandos and Sith):
From worst to best: Seperatist, 24.5 average points, played 5 times Mandalorian, 41.6 average points, played 7 times Sith, 42.2 average points, played 9 times Rebel, 44.4 average points, played 3 times Old Republic, 46.2 average points, played 6 times Republic, 52.3 average points, played 16 times New Republic, 53.8 average points, played 4 times Imperial, 61.5 average points, played 12 times Vong, 71 average points, played 5 times
