I have 2 v-set promos,

Wookiee Jedi and Mace Legacy.

They seem to be the same as the other cards except bluer and a different flavor text. What were these made for? Prizes?

Yeah, those two were made because when we made the Battle of Theed microset it only had 10 new cards in it, but then we found out that the way the things were printed we had space for 2 more at no extra cost, so we made those promos just to have something neat. A lot were given out at Gencon last year, and some were sent out with every printed set of Battle of Theed.

There are actually some NEW promos out now to be used as prize support for regionals this year. Some are for anyone who attends a regional, some just go to the top 4. They just have the blue coloring and a brand new promo back. So attend regionals, you'll get cool new promos!

I have those exact same ones, so they must be for those who paid for their cards.

Recommendation for future promos: make them cards with affinity so we can put one with each faction.

It was thought about, but it causes confusion with a few of them, namely those with Mando affinity and those that have affinity to be with certain figures.

Thanks for the info.

I am a bit confused about what was meant with the affinity request; the promo would have affinity to 3 or 4 factions?

I think the idea was to do something like make a version of Jaina Solo, SotJ with a Mandalorian card with NR affinity. That's a cool idea, and like Sithborg said was thought about, but in a lot of cases it does actually effect gameplay. For example, right now you wouldn't be able to put Jaina in a Sith squad with Ulic, but if she were Mando with NR affinity, you could.

We could potentially do that with cards that don't currently have any issues like that, but that would mean that we would have to actually design around the promo if in the future we wanted to make a character with affinity to bring in those characters, and it's really not worth the hassle just to get a cool looking promo.

Nothing against the designers choice but I would prefer not to see any more promo cards. Being that everyone got them with their set there not really to collectible and theres nothing different about them aside from color and the quote at the bottom. Im not even really sure what to do with mine.

Well, there are more promo cards. There are three new ones for the regional season. You might even see some more at Gencon.

You don't have to do anything with them. If you don't like them, don't use them; throw them away or something. There was absolutely no reason not to print the first two (the Wookiee Jedi and Mace); I guess we could have just had blank cards printed, but is that really better? Like I said above and like engineer pointed out, there are new ones, which are much more collectible since it was a planned thing (we specifically decided to get these promos made instead of being surprised with the ability to print 2 extra cards), so there are fewer of them. For example, I know that there is a certain promo that I have a copy of and there will be exactly 4 given out at the Atlanta regional; if you want one of those, better get into the top 4, otherwise you won't be getting it. I believe that's true for other regionals, too.

Elitism! Unless there are 4 or less people in a regional, I will never have a chance of getting one!

Shoot either UrbanJedi and myself a PM at Gamers about getting promo's for those of you not near a regional or outside the US.

The only reason you don't have them is because you have not asked.

Does that apply to Mace and the Wookiee Jedi, or to future promos?

Not at all - I just meant if you're going to duplicate a card, make it a card that has affinity so that we can store copies of the card with different factions. For example, I put one Wookiee Jedi card with Republic and another with Old Republic (since it has Affinity). The second Mace card isn't really useful, though.
