Im Good at stupid questions? Picking sides of map? Options

When choosing sides of map can u set up any where on that side?
Or is it oppisite corners?
I know :) im new what can i say just tryin to play correctly

Anywhere in your starting area which goes from side to side, up to 4 squares out from the side.

You can set up anywhere, so you don't have to cluster your figures at all. So you have 2 in the left, 4 in the middle, and 4 in the right. Or, a string of characters across the whole side of the map.
