The best miniatures? If I want to buy only 8 unique figurines (one fig of each of these main characters)...
- Palpatine/Sidious : 8 different miniatures! you must keep only one of them, who's the best choice?
- Dark Vador : 11! you must keep only one of them, who's the best choice?
- Luke : 15!!! you must keep only one of them, who's the best choice?
- Han : 10 ! you must keep only one of them, who's the best choice?
- Chewbacca : 7 ! you must keep only one of them, who's the best choice?
- Kenobi : 10 ! you must keep only one of them, who's the best choice?
- Leia : 10! you must keep only one of them, who's the best choice?
- Yoda : 7 ! you must keep only one of them, who's the best choice?

So I think your talking about their poses in particular yes? Here is my advice then:
- Palpatine/Sidious : CotF Sep one in his fighting pose
- Dark Vador : Vader Unleashed, epic
- Luke : 15!!! Despite my love for the unleashed hoth version I'd go with GM Luke
- Han : 10 ! Han solo from Rebel Storm
- Chewbacca : 7 ! The one with C3PO, two for price of one
- Kenobi : 10 ! I though you were only counting OT ones, if it's all then General Kenobi for sure
- Leia : 10! Slave Leia.... Super tactical
- Yoda : 7 ! Force ghost yoda, super cool piece
However if your buying them, the newer sets are definitely cheaper to get ahold of then the older pre clone strike ones, by a LOT so consider that

Sideous: Emperor Palpatine on a Throne. I think that is the best OT looking version of him.
Vader: Darth Vader, Jedi Hunter. He just looks like a total boss.
Luke: Luke Skywalker, Jedi. That is my favourite looking Luke.
Han: Han Solo of Hoth is the best looking Han in my opinion. But sucks for games.
Chewie: Chewbacca, Fearless Scout. From the iconic moment in the "cave" on the asteroid.
Kenobi: Obi Wan Kenobi, Force Spirit. Beeeeen! Beeeeen!
Leia: Princess Leia, Senator. From those opening scenes.
Yoda: Yoda on a Kybuck. He will always be my favourite looking Yoda mini. I don't care that it isn't in the OT.
