Well, my friend has decided to sell his collection for some much needed cash, and has asked me to handle it. His collection is huge (about 4500 to 5000 minis) and he wants to get it sold as quick as possible. It includes every production mini made, no promos, multiples of all the non-unique rares, and two AT-AT's
What would be the best, and quickest way to sell? Price? He'd like to get somewhere in the neighborhood of $2000 for everything.
Thoughts?

@c.indian, Ah, best bet would be to break it down either to individual singles level or to theme packs and auction them off. DO NOT ATTEMPT to wholesale, as you'll get ripped off every time (from my experience haha) The easiest way though is probably lots of 30-40 mini armies put up on Ebay or something, and I'd estimate about $1500~$2500 selling via this process. Make sure you get 15% off the top for all your work.
And yes. I'm serious. If you're doing the legwork and the mailing and the striking of deals, you should get a taste of the pie for your efforts.

Quickest and easiest way would be to sell to the various sites (Auggies, Strikezone, Troll and Toad, Miniature Market, Coolstuff). Most profitable would be to piece them out individually.
When I thinned down my collection of minis, I sold to Stikezone and Auggies. Strikezone generally gave better prices, but only wanted so many of each mini, whereas Auggies paid less, but took more product. All in all, I sold about 250 minis for around 500 bucks.
At 5000 minis, $2000 would be an easy target to reach, especially if he has stuff from Starship Battles.
Another thing too, if he doesn't need the cash right away would be to try to sell some of it to the community here and at swmgamers. Do the research of where you'd sell what, then offer it to everyone for the price you'd get if you'd've sold them to one of the online retailers (plus a reasonable shipping fee, of course).

I agree with the above suggestions. Also, make sure you let international buyers in. You'll sell a ton more that way!

There was a guy over at the WotC boards that wanted to buy a complete collection: http://community.wizards.com/marketplace/go/thread/view/94961/28783921/Complete_Star_Wars_Miniatures_CollectionIt's 8 months ago, so not sure if it's still relevant. But it might be worth a try?
