Can some one post the official rules (or the link) for the 500pt games to be played at Gencon this year?
It seems there was some discrepancy in our play testing the other night...

http://www.swmgamers.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=222&t=15439&start=201. We are not using the three commander effect limit. 2. Yes, characters from S&V, JvS, and new Epics will be legal. All of their stats will be released a few weeks before GenCon. 3. Map list is restricted. Hope this helps

i think the question he is wondering is from something i posted. Is it a requirement to have an epic, and is there a limit to the number of epics that you may use?

Funny, I just Googled the GenCon Epic 500, and in the discription it said "Epic characters are legal" it did not say "manditory"

My thinking is (from what I remember reading about this over a year ago) is that the "Epic" of the Epic 500 is NOT discussing the Epic characters.
But rather it describes the type of squads used and the skirmish size. Meaning "epic" as in large or awesome. The squads are 250% bigger than the normal max of 200pts.
Again, I could be totally wrong, but I think it's just coincidence that they used "Epic" in the name and there are also characters referred to as "Epic".
Can anyone post anything official in regards to this? Or tell us who to contact to get it squared away?

Epics are legal, not mandatory. Epic format was around before Epic characters. There is no limit, either.

One last thing to clear up...
The short description says "SWMPGA standard map list will be legal"
However, the long description says "we will be using the restricted map list"
(also posted by urbanjedi above)
Which is correct?

This is the Gencon desription: "This is a 500 pt skirmish battle! Bring your 500 point Epic squad and do battle on a grand scale. Faction rules apply. SWMGPA Standard Map list will be legal. Tournament will be 4 rounds of Swiss. It's time to do battle on an Epic scale! This is an Epic Skirmish Tournament. Squads may be up to 500 points, with Epic characters being legal, but squads have a maximum of 16 characters, including Reinforcements. Commander Effects and Special Abilities which alter the amount of characters you may activate in a phase may not be used. The Disintegration Special Ability is ignored for this event. We will be using the Restricted Map list. We will play 4 rounds of Swiss, with prizes for players with 0 or only 1 loss. Each round will be one and a half hours long." It has Standard Map list, 16 max characters, Epics optional. IT THIS ACCURATE????

Wow i did NOT list that correctly! It is supposed to be Restricted List! I think we can get the word out at Gencon, but that was an error.
