First and foremost congrats to Trevor for his amazing Play to win gencon. Now to the other matter. Mace Windu, a non tier 1 piece dominates at the highest level of competition. To everyone who said he would never win a gencon . Please apologize to us. And admit you were wrong :)

If and only if you guys admit to being 100% wrong about Naboo squads, despite the fact that no one said that Mace COULDN'T win the championship when being played by someone like Trevor, easily one of the best players in the world.
Seriously though, don't start a thread under the guise of "Congrats to Trevor" and then make it about a personal vendetta. That's not cool.

Actually Daniel,They did say Mace COULD NOT WIN GenCon billiv15 wrote:Deaths_Baine wrote:Sithborg wrote:I don't think anyone is saying he isn't good. But, the evidence shows he isn't nearly the monster, overpowered beast most are making him out to be, which your post is very reminiscent of. No, no I said in the hands of a great player he is a monster, not overpowered, never said he was, just that he is awesome. And yeah when he was first released people did say he wasn't good, tier 2, maybe tier 1.5. and that is just not the case. He is clearly tier 1. That is not clear. I still fully believe he's about 1.5. There are too many bad match ups for him to win Gencon, which would be what I consider tier 1.

I said back in September last year: Quote:I don't think he's broken - he's just extreme. He's great against other melee pieces - similar to something like Vader Scourge of the Jedi or even just the Vong as a whole - but doesn't have a whole lot of defence against shooters. So he has some really good matchups and some really bad ones. I can see him decimating some really good squads, but I can't see him winning GenCon or anything. In my defense, one development that has happened since is the reinstatement of Soresu Style Mastery and the reemergence of GOWK - I think both Mace teams in the top 8 featured GOWK? He does help Mace against heavy shooter squads, both by being a damage sink himself and by raising Mace's defense. But I was wrong - congratulations TINT and Hinkbert for getting so far with Mace.
